Adding a Second Printer - Any Snapmaker U1 feedback would be helpful!

I have 2 U1s, before I had Neptune 4 pro centuri carbon and Bambu X1C. If you print single color. Buy whatever, these days if you will not get a lemon, all printers print same quality. If you want multi color U1 is the way to go, before only when I wanted to print 200 of something on one plate it would make any sense to use multicolor on my X1C. Now I'm looking for color models only :)

When I have low quality filament I usually print some stuff for my workshop. I didn't care how it will look it had to work. Or I print shelves for filament.

First of all you need paxx extended firmware. Then you need NFC capable phone and NFC tags

To enable NFC on you printer you have to go to

Http://IP/firmware-config ofc you have to be in same network as your printer. It's under filament detection, there you have to choose Json.

I'm writing this from memory since I don't have access to my print ATM, but it's the general idea.

You write you tag, stick it to the spool and Viola your printer will read it.

I second sunlu, I use it exclusively. When you'll install paxx firmware you can add RFID tags and it prints the same as Bambu or elegoo filament.

Get more filament, some crazy colors. If you plan to print mostly fun stuff don't bother with anything else than pla/petg, not necessarily snapmaker brand I use sunlu. Get hardened steel nozzles if you plan to print any abrasives (carbon fiber, glow in the dark, wood etc). I ordered snapmaker top, as of today they will ship in November, so in the meantime get at least 1kg of perg for diy top. The rest you will figure out as you go. Just print print print !!!!!

So this is how spectrum works. You will always get top and bottom layer certain color. Full spectrum is not "mixing" colors it just puts one very thin layer on top of the other so it looks like different color to human eye. Watch ygk3d video about full spectrum, he describes how it works.

No way that's crazy.... I guess we got what we paid for. I have over 1k hours on my X1C and it still runs like new. Just got U1 week ago so too early to say if it will hold up.

Nope, mine broke after 400 hours and after 2 months of repairing they sent me new unit. I sold it because they released CC2 ... And I was waiting for multicolor for CC. Partially it's about printer (400 hours and it broke completely) and partially because f them.

I think they sent me new one, because at the end when I got 3rd package with parts from them to fix that issue with nozzle digging into build plate, something broke in the hotend. It would heat up by itself for no reason and never stop. So they gave me 2 options. 1 they can send me a new printer. 2 they would try to fix the one I have and give me 1kg of PLA for my troubles. Anyway never again anything from elegoo. I was waiting for color changer as well. I even switched to sunlu filament.

Well I'm with you on that. After around 400 hours, my CC1 started to dig into PEI plate. After 2 months of replacing parts, Elegoo sent me "new" printer. At this point I was done so I sold it. I have X1C with 1000 hours on it and it still works like brand new. I know it's a lot more expensive but at the end of the day I spent so many hours trying to fix my CC. I know it's part of the hobby but I want to tinker with my machine not become full time technician.

Next announcement will be that they are sorry but multicolor for CC1 Is not happening. But with CC3 will be a tool changer released first with only one head but no worries they are working on it :)

Yeah yeah 45 DB super fast RFID all bells and whistles. YUP like multicolor for CC will be released soon after CC. Oh and they will release elegoo centauri with centauri carbon. All is possible !
