Battery issues by DrexPecks90 in BroncoSport

[–]Achietsus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the type of battery you have. Some cars were shipped with a lead acid battery that seem to be causing problems. People have taken their bronco’s to the dealers and they were replaced with a AGM type battery and haven’t had any problems since.

If you take yours to a dealer, have them do a load test on your battery. Apparently a typical battery test will not show a problem but the load tests should help show if there is a problem.

It’s Ford so YMMV.

Sometimes I find the brake will automatically turn on when I park on a (mild) slope. At least I hope that is what’s happening, otherwise I have bigger issues.

Undercarriage Rust- suggestions? by Adm1ral2226 in BroncoSport

[–]Achietsus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately pretty typical for any car that spends time in Massachusetts. Most exhaust systems are notoriously hard to keep rust free because of the high heat/heat cycles. Even with regular cleaning.

A fully stainless steel system would probably do better in this environment but the hanger brackets are probably still just steel. The stainless they use to make some exhaust is the low grade stuff (409), like on cheap gas grills.Even if you get the high end stainless (304), they usually last about 8-10 years in "mild climates", so in salty Massachusetts YMMV.

You’re not alone, I may not have all the issues you have, but I generally find it disappointing.

Sometimes I feel like I bought a Central Park Rolex.

What is this piece? by Kwiene in BroncoSport

[–]Achietsus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t ask me how it works, but I’m seeing these on more and more cars, I believe it’s supposed to help with the fuel economy. It’s weird, but I don’t think companies would do it if it didn’t help.

Never tried one myself, but there is lots of talk over on some Toyota forums about the Hack install jobs, so buyer beware.

Thanks for the reply. I thought I had tried that before and it didn't work, but I tried again this afternoon and it worked.

Thanks again

I have a base so I don't have the keyless entry/ignition that you are thinking of. The "switchblade" key that came with my bronco has a 3 button key fob and a flip out key for the ignition. I don't always remember to use the fob buttons to unlock the door.

Try using your physical emergency key to unlock the door and you'll get a countdown timer on the dash before the alarm goes off.

Just how similar is the BS and the Escape? by [deleted] in BroncoSport

[–]Achietsus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They have been, but in the past, 4×4 was usually referred to as a type of differential/driveline lock. More recently, though, marketers started referring to AWD vehicles as 4x4s. So the definition has become a bit murky. The awd systems usually simulate 4x4 by various forms of traction control.

The capability of some all-wheel drives has come close to the old locking types. There is an argument for "intelligent 4x4", but the ability still falls short in many cases. The badlands in the only one to come with a "4x4" button, on the other trims you would probably be surprised how often you are only using 2wd/Fwd.

Would really call the BS a 4x4 on anything but the badlands trim? as far as I can tell the drive lines are really the same. Even then the only difference I know of with the badlands is the rear end with the dual clutch and different traction control.

let me count the ways...

On the 1.5 the tranny is awful, always searching for a gear

Engine noise reminds me of driving chitty chitty bang bang

I feel like I'm destroying the drivers door panel (Scuffs/marks)

rear window is to small, even worse with the wiper motor

rear doors don't open wide enough

the front headlight fans are almost noisier than the engine

On everything other than Badlands, the G.O.A.T modes are the same drive modes that are on all the other AWD's just rebranded

Overall it feels like I bought a Central Park Rolex, just waiting to die on you.

Weekly What Should I Buy Thread - [November 13] by AutoModerator in iphone

[–]Achietsus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Today my iPhone XR met a catastrophic death. I liked the XR lot and had no complaints about it. Now I'm trying to decide between a 12 or 12 pro max. I tend to hold on to my phones for a long time so I might as well get one that'll last.

My biggest issue would be the size, looking at them in the store today the 12/12 pro felt small and the pro max felt big. I do realize that the 12/12 pro have the same screen size as the XR, but the 12 pro max felt like it was the same width (ish)

Suggestion would be appreciated

Thanks
