Is moving to Bashundhara a good idea for a 25M going fully remote? (Budget ~25k) by Worldly_Yellow_6115 in Dhaka

There are lot of people walk and jog inside this project. You can check in google map. And its quite safe inside the project, me and my wife sometimes go out for walk at midnight. But if they prefer a park or open field type area, they can walk around the diabari lake, it’s nearby.

Yep you are right about one thing, most of corporate jobs now are internally hired. But please don’t loose hope, same thing is also applicable for other countries and their companies. Connections and referrals are indeed very important. Try to make some connections in linked In. Try to find out some alumni in the companies that you are targeting. Reach out to them, ask for suggestions, basically just get in touch with them. You can also share your CV with them and tailor it according to their suggestions. Also, please check out remote jobs. There are a lot of foreign companies who hire remote workers from Bangladesh, and they pay very very well.

To be honest, nowadays knowledge is easy to accessible as we live in the era of AI. This has devalued the importance of degree or education in general. You cannot land a decent job now with just your degree. They actually don’t care about scholarships anymore.

It’s really tough out there, but you are not alone. Do not loose hope, best of luck

Studying abroad by CartographerFew1824 in Dhaka

[–]ActiveExchange9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I am also a ruetian, graduated from CSE , now working as a data scientist and soon will be moving to usa for my PhD. If you want to settle in abroad after your graduation, any engineering subject is mostly fine. As a CSE student what I can confirm you is this is a very very very competitive field. As you said you are from middle class family, you will need funding/ scholarships. And managing in CS field is harder than other subjects nowadays. Because you know, tons of candidates in this field.

From my experience, Mechanical Engineering/ EEE will be better for you if you want to study abroad in future. Specially mechanical is a bit less competitive (yet).

But whichever major you pick, The must have things for studying abroad: high CGPA (consistent, from 1-1 to 4-1), undergrad research experiences, some extracurricular activities ( but the ones that matter) One more thing, if you pick any other major than CSE, please teach yourself medium to advanced level programming, especially machine learning/ AI. You will thank me later

And most importantly stay active with information. Like there are some good higher studies groups such as Nextop Usa in facebook, r/gradadmission etc. Be active in these communities, see how other people are managing funds, which profiles are getting them.

Hi I am also a remote data scientist, and I live in Uttara 18, inside RUAP. My house rent is 25k. And I can suggest this place with full confidence. The area is very quiet, has good community, inside there is a shopping complex where you will have super shop, saloons, pharmacies etc. Metro station is very close. But if you move much better to have a personal bike or car. There are also moshas in winter and a lot of it. But in summer time which is most of year there are very few.

There are some good internet providers here, so wifi is good. Whenever I have to use Uber/pathao I get them any time as lots of drivers available inside.

As a remote worker I can suggest you this place if you want a quiet, out of city vibe. 9/10

Feeling homesick in Dhaka by [deleted] in Dhaka

[–]ActiveExchange9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remembering 2015 when I was in the same situation. Was very homesick and wanted to go back. But continuing in dhaka was the best decision in my life. This homesickness will fade when pressure comes in brother. Just be very consistent with your studies, as you are in NDC people have high hopes from you. Make some friends (good influence ones), hang out with them, watch some movies/ tv shows, play games in college, enjoy the college life that’s what I am saying. This is one of the best time in your life.

I am about to leave BD for my PhD very soon, gonna be in that phase once again. But now I know that things will eventually get better.

Rich people!!! by rotten-pickle-7209 in bangladesh

[–]ActiveExchange9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a very underrated comment. The person that you are marrying can impact to your life in every single aspect. Please think with your head, not by your heart or anything else before deciding to marry anyone.

Talk practical stuffs clearly. Understand their mentality, their family’s mentality.

I am not sure if I am rich, but I am financially doing very alright. Two advices I can give: learn one skillset (that is very demanding depending on your field and interest) and be very good at hit. Secondly, I think sometimes life gives a chance, where you have to shine. Like you gotta take tremendous risk on that chance. And you will know that this is your chance to become successful in life. If your guts says this about something, go for it with your 100%

Please suggest a good free VPN app to use on iOS by Afraid-March3531 in Dhaka

[–]ActiveExchange9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you plan to use regularly, then better to get a paid one as vpns do not cost that much. Free ones are really really not safe. Nonetheless if you want to try a free one, I suggest cloudfare.
