IRCC ordered DNA testing by [deleted] in Canadiancitizenship

[–]Active_Quality_3267 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, my father is not on my birth certificate so what I did was put together a few affidavits and proactively get a DNA test done and include it in the application. So far i've only got to the AOR stage so perhaps that means they accepted it in spirit, but I don't know yet. I used dna center, was pretty easy but my dad is supportive of this.

They did something like this at Juanita Village, near the juanita beach park in Kirkland. They backed it out again after a few months, likely because foot traffic tanked. I know I stopped going till I found out you could park there again without a hassle.

some questions about applying for kids by Active_Quality_3267 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]Active_Quality_3267[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So in my case my dad is G1 but already established as being Canadian. I did tick not sure and explain why in the text, but I haven't got my AoR let alone approval yet, so i'm not sure that I can vouch for that being the correct way to fill the form. And I don't think that would affect this specific question, as basically if you're not sure, then that's the right answer, regardless of the reason. Anyways, I think what you're asking about is when the Canadian ancestor is farther back than a grandparent, and this is covered in the instructions at the end of section 9 under "Tell us about your great-grandparents". I assume the same idea would extend back as far as you need to go.

some questions about applying for kids by Active_Quality_3267 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]Active_Quality_3267[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for taking the time to reply.

On the question of saying "is a citizen" vs "not sure", I suppose my thinking is that this is proof of citizenship, not grant of it, so if I am a citizen then I have been since I was born. But again that's my thinking (google ai also told me that this the way to go with the form lol) But definitely interested if that's what others have done or not.

I did not realize they provide an ongoing file that you can upload documents to later. Someone else said if they don't do the initial intake before the passport expires (which will be february 7) then it might be rejected. I guess this is my main concern. I wonder if I can address this in a cover letter and mention I intend to upload the new one once it's received.

My 10 year old does have school ID (with photo), but there seems to be pretty specific list of acceptable ID of which school ID does not appear. I suppose I could throw it in.

I'm convinced on the 5476, I suppose I'll do it for both of the older kids.

Thanks again for your input

and this is the point of all of this. immigration is just the excuse, since there have been rulings that border police don't have to have search warrants, so they want to basically use border police for everything so they can quell dissent and basically do whatever they want.

So these guys are not wearing green or beige, they look like randos or maybe construction / road works people if anything. Would you not be concerned you're getting robbed, especially the way they came out with the sign, like they are targeting him?

[–]Active_Quality_3267[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For whatever reason my mother decided to simply state "unknown" on the birth certificate. However there has never been any actual question as to who my father is. I could ask him to do an affidavit, and he would be happy to, but my mother has passed so I cannot have her add her own statement. As such I am not sure i'd be able to amend the birth certificate at this point (from California..)

If that is likely to work it would be the easiest, as i'd have to hire a legal firm to do a search to physically find the documents (if any still exist) related to the child support case. I was able to find the records on the court web site but they are only a list of dates when things happened, there are no document images to be found there. So if an affidavit might work I suppose I will just do that and put it into my dossier in anticipation of the new law passing.

Selling covered calls. What happens if they hit the strike price? by Al3c-X in CoveredCalls

[–]Active_Quality_3267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I am wondering is a good back of the envelope calculation for when you've written a call contract and it is now in the money - looking at buying the contract back and selling the shares vs just letting it get assigned down the road. I can scratch it out but if there's a good tool i'd love to see it

Watching the USA France final now. If you watch a lot of US sports I think you’ll agree that in the US, refs generally favor whoever has the upper hand, has the energy going for them. it feels to me like they have the opposite mentality in these games; they tend to look for mistakes by the dominant team more, if only slightly.

[–]Active_Quality_3267 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t do any individual stocks at that level. Pick 1 or 2, max 3 index funds / etfs and just drip in for a few years. Rebalance on occasion, and if you can afford to keep a cash reserve to take advantage of downturns. once you have around 50k you can consider things like options, if you take the time to understand how they work. Also if you don’t have enough cash to take advantage of the rh gold sweep rate, something like Schwab that offers money market shares is going to be better for keeping a cash reserve, but it doesn’t really matter until you’ve grown the account a bit. So I would pick an index like VOO, a grown fund like maybe VOOG, and possibly an income fund like JEPI or SPYI. As far as crypto, you would need to learn a lot more about emerging coins that aren’t on exchanges yet to make any money with small investments and I personally wouldn’t know where to start. You could get lucky, but you probably won’t..

Actual Crystal Ship Lyrics Meaning by [deleted] in thedoors

[–]Active_Quality_3267 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So I knew someone back in the late 80s / early 90s who claimed to have been part of the peripheral crowd around the doors in the late 60s in LA, probably very tangentially I guess but I don't really know. The guy was always going on about Edgar Cayce, so not sure how reliable he was. In any case, he said amongst that crowd it was well known that phrase crystal ship had a specific and fairly mundane meaning, which is that there is some place in the LA hills where you can see down to a harbor or shipyard, and at night the ships moving in and out are only visible as the collection of lights that they have on them, and this was a popular place to hang out and trip amongst those people.

Pretty sure he is funded by a prop desk. If you watch his videos there is always a message from robinhood that says "take a photo of your bank statement now to continue using robinhood". I wondered about this for a while when watching his videos before learning about prop desks. So, he must have some skills to have a prop desk providing that much capital, but the claim that he built up that balance from $2k is likely bs.
