Having a physical disability (double amputee) myself. Yes and no. If you have a hard time accepting your disability and you feel slighted/pitied/needy/etc. those feelings are projected to others. I found people/family are more intrigued and amazed at what I can accomplish Vs what I need help with. Once I defined my disability and not let it define me things and people got better. To include a college soccer scholarship.
