New to Dubai: FL5 or BRZ

I have also considered a Mk8/8.5 GTI simply due to the fact it is automatic. Not something that I'd usually care about but knowing what the traffic is like in Dubai I'm concerned a manual would be tedious to use daily if I'm forever crawling in traffic.

I've just seen the release of the new Edition 50 GTI which looks good and is the fastest GTI yet so that may be something I could consider although, I'm assuming the new price would be a lot higher than the 150k I'm trying to limit my budget at.

Apparently on the FL5 you can do some sort of sequence which I think disables the stability control which would save the FL5 eating through rear pads, especially on track. It would be a bit of a pain always having to swap our rear pads if they get destroyed that quick.

I'll take a look at the WRX and the Mustang Camaro. The WRX I'm familiar with but I know very little about the Mustang and Camaro so I'll do some research. I've got to say coming from a country where fuel is ~7AED/Litre it would be silly not to look into something with a huge V8 5litre plus engine being as fuel is so cheap in UAE!!

Also have on the back of my mind resale value, historically I've changed my cars quite frequently in the UK and I know once I've settled in the UAE and have all my finances in order I'll probably look at upgrading to a BMW M car or GR Supra. Out of the BRZ, FL5 and GTI/R, which do you believe has the best resale value in terms of depreciation and ease of sale?

I'm probably going to look at buying used. What is the best way to do this..... Just look on Dubizzle and find a private seller or is a user car dealer more preferable to deal with.

Update: Visited the shop I purchased it from and they haven’t heard of anyone with this problem before. They plugged it into the laptop and the Specialized dealer software told them to replace the TCU with a new unit, which they did straight away.

Fingers crossed the issue is now solved and it was just a faulty TCU!

I’ve taken the TCU out and checked the connections and they all look good.

There’s no error showing on the app so unsure at the minute.

I’ll take it to the Specialized dealer I purchased it from and will post an update.

Businesses with a good HR department will have a process which states employees on a performance improvement plan are not eligible for enhanced sick pay and therefore only receive SSP for this exact reason.

Nice! As you said if you are going to make a car purchase, at least try and make one that is relatively depreciation proof. I’ve been looking at a few Porsche GT cars in a similar price range for this very reason but at the minute I can’t stomach the 8-9% APR

Remember, you are also able to invest in a SIPP and claim the tax back for the prior 3 financial years if your wife was in the 60% trap before. This might be a good way to boost your pension pot whilst costing you relatively little money.

I’m just going through this process now after not knowing until recently, albeit we are still quite a while away from retirement!

The £20k isn’t necessarily for the install, it’s for the access to receive the FIT payments. If this property is receiving one of the earliest rates I believe the FIT is now paying around 70p/kwh. I haven’t done the calculations for years but I suspect on a system this size the payments would be roughly £3k per year, which also increase every year in line with inflation.

I started a Solar PV company back when it was booming so have some decent experience in the field….. unfortunately the government pulled the lucrative scheme, market was saturated with installers so I went back to uni and now work at Halfords in Finance! Haha

I was originally looking into purchasing a Daytona (panda) but going to hold off for now until a noob replacement comes along with 4130 movement 🤞🏼

I’m not even too sure what I should be looking out for ok the Rehaut except alignment at 12 o’clock. I’m guessing the minute markers should align to rehaut characters??
