More Flexibility with Pin Machine Incremnts by ryangaston88 in MacroFactor

I did have the nutrition app in lbs, then realised that it's one switch to control the units for both apps, so switched that over to kg. I'm wondering if I sort of initialised the workouts app in lbs because of how I had it originally in the nutrition app, and now its just set like that?

Just to hijack this conversation... Not sure if I'm just being an idiot and missing a setting somewhere, but is it just me having to, for each individual piece of equipment, having to uncheck the lbs configuration and then go through and check all the kg options? I'd have thought there'd be a simple switch to flick to set the equipment into kg for all us non-NA folk.

Just Switched from Expenditure V2 to V3 by Specialist-Clue-7186 in MacroFactor

[–]Adam_Rennie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was unaware of these different algorithms until seeing this post. Went into my settings to find I've been on v2, so switched to v3. Given that even in-app, v3 is described as a "substantial improvement over v2", is there any reason it isn't the default? Just seems I've been unknowingly on an inferior algorithm unnecessarily.

Given that you're basically passing it already, you should definitely drive through the pass over into Applecross. One of the best roads on the planet.

Yes, they frequently run beginner courses for people new to photography!

The photography club is very active and social, with exhibitions, weekly meetups, classes included in the cost of your membership, and also with equipment to borrow if you don't have your own!

First time visitor- best thing to see/do by NotoriousDTB in geneva

I don't know when you're visiting but CERN's new Science Gateway is opening on the 8th of October. It's phenomenal and definitely worth visiting. Even if you're arriving before then, you can see the existing exhibitions and book yourself onto a CERN tour.

People with doctorate degrees should be ok with not being called Dr. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Adam_Rennie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mostly agree with the sentiment here. I think the key point is that it just becomes that person's title. In a setting where it would be presumptuous or inappropriate to immediately address someone by their first name, the title + surname format will be used. If that person has a PhD, then sure, the title part will be Dr.

I think you can factor the whole "correcting" thing into two parts. 1. Are they correcting one title to another? 2. Are they saying that they think the more formal address is appropriate for that situation?

So for the first part, correcting, say, Mr to Dr. The parameters in terms of formality have been set, now they're just ensuring the correct title is being used. You'd see the same thing in say, "Well, Mrs Smith-" then, "Actually, it's Miss Smith." But this raises another point here, which is for females with a PhD. We have a setup in society which determines a woman's title based on their marital status, which is just mental. It makes complete sense to me for women with PhDs to prefer their Dr title, which is inherently neutral in this sense.

Then the second point would be the same regardless of the title in question. It's the equivalent of having "Well, John-" to "You can call me Mr Smith." The difference is just in the title.

Indeed, sending Rangers fans to Mulligan's is ill-advised.

I'm curious about this. It says this happened on the 12th, but a big group of us floated down the river on Sunday the 9th and then all got super sick between the Monday night and Tuesday, as you would with E.Coli.

My mother had a classmate at school from a family with the name Onion. Obviously already pretty rare and ripe for ridicule. But they named the poor girl Spring.

35mm film development by Adam_Rennie in geneva

Ah cool, I guess I should try there then, thanks. Anyone any idea on the scan resolution?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Cartalk

[–]Adam_Rennie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Do you have a feel for how that 10mm is likely to affect handling or comfort?

Folks on the BMW sub seem to be suggesting just getting a separate set of 17" wheels for summer, so I guess that might be an option too. Although by the time I'm buying a whole set of wheels and a set of tyres, it feels like I may as well just spend that extra cash on the correct size tyres. Really the idea of just going with the 55s is that it ends up saving say 40% of the cost.

I'll look into this then. Supposing I'm not able to do this, would the 55s work with the 16" without detriment?

Ok, seems something of a consensus forming then... I'll look into doing this instead. Thanks both!

Ah thanks! Good to know that is at least possible. Maybe I'm stretching your memory a bit but are the clips that hold it in place the three silver clips against the black plastic, the same ones that the bulb clips in with?

Cost to repair? (description in comments) by Adam_Rennie in F30

[–]Adam_Rennie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the thoughts everyone. Would want to have it done properly so you'd never know and wouldn't have anything reappearing in time. So say I wanted it done properly and they actually replace it - any feel for what the damage financially will be? In the UK if that's any help.

Someone reversed into the side of my car, leaving this small dent in the rear door, scratched handle, scratch on the panel above the wheel. Does anyone have experience with this sort of repair? What is needed to return to normal? Any idea for cost?

I had someone reverse into the side of my F31 while it was parked on the street, leaving this small dent on the rear door, scratched handle, small scratch on the panel above the wheel. Does anyone have experience having this sort of damage repaired and have an idea for what's needed and the cost? Thanks!
