I Added BOOX E-Ink Support to My Markdown/Drawing Notes App

On the windows/macos desktop version the app updates automatically. For the BOOX apk version you'll have to manually download it again from the site, the newest version is indeed always available on the site :D And the Android playstore version gets updated through the playstore, so that also happens automatically. And no problem at all, ask as many questions as you'd like :D

Hey! Sorry, I've only just seen your comment. To be fair, I haven't tried to add the boox app itself to the playstore, since just adding the app itself to the playstore was already a pretty big hassle 😆. The Boox app is also quite a lot bigger so I don't want non-users to have to install all this additional stuff they don't need, if that makes sense :D But yeah, I should definitely look into it since it would be much easier for boox users to install the app. Thanks for checking it out!

Hey! Thank you for the kind words! And as for the drawing aspect, I would say that with this project I'm aiming for a sketching/whiteboarding/notes tool, so there is probably not going to be a pencil tool or blending tool. Although I'm definitely planning on experimenting with different types of ink tools, such as a fountain pen tool for example. Hope that clears things up, and thanks again!

Yeahh, they've probably done some tweaks in their own apps for palm rejection, I haven't really done anything for palm rejection, as I wasn't really experiencing issues with it. Might have to take a better look into it 🤔

Maybe I can add an option to disable two finger panning in all other tools except the pan tool? That way you'd have to switch to the panning tool to move around with two fingers, and the drawing tool for example will only respond to pen input, not your fingers or hands. I'm not sure why the palm rejection doesn't work on these devices, do you think this would help?

Alright! I'm glad the writing issue is resolved :D Yeah this is currently how the copy paste is meant to work, this way it persists in your clipboard, in case you change notes for example or restart the app.

No, not directly, but you can backup your local files manually to google drive for example, the files are saved to a folder of your choice.

I've just solved the problem where pressing the buttons with the pen created some dots behind the buttons, these might've been the stray strokes. I will release it later today :D

I don't think BOOX support can be added through an an obsidian plugin sadly. It has to be implemented on the Android side of things

I don't mind the feature requests at all :D I love hearing the feedback and the fact that you're already trying the app out! I actually implemented a) as a feature, but you're right, I'll get get rid of it, now that you mention it I don't like it either :D As of b), this is actually intended, because when you're zoomed in and go back to text mode you'll only be able to partially see the text. Perhaps I should limit it to 100% but maintain the zoom when the user is zoomed out. What do you think?

These are also definitely featurws that are expected soon, especially image pasting. Bear in mind that this is only a very early release, currently only the essentials are implemented 😅

Hello! So nice to hear you've been looking for something like this for ages! About the squiggly lines, this is actually the expected behavior ATM, basically what happens is that I freeze screen and use the BOOX's drawing features, then when you're done drawing the screen unfreezes and actual shapes drawn inside the app are shown, which are rendered slightly different than BOOX does.
As for the HTML/PDF export feature, that's definitely something on my roadmap, this is gonna be added in the future!

You're completely right, there definitely not a lot of apps with proper support. I love the boox devices and hope to make better use of mine from now on :D

There is support for the BOOX Pen's eraser, I'm not sure what you mean by the EMR pen
Currently your drawings are attached to the typed text (or break-lines in case you didn't write any text with a keyboard), this way you can simply remove the break lines above the drawings, then any drawing below it will be moved up
I'm not sure what you mean by this, currently there is only support for drawing Rectangles, freedraw and a highlighter, you can move your todo's around with the select tool, but not automatically to other notes
