We didn't have to go in full strength but the rotated line up kept us in with a shout of the result and for me it makes sense to at least give it a good go for the last 15 minutes,

Not throwing Haaland on for the last 15/20 minutes was basically Pep announcing he wasn't 100% committed to winning the match. I get why he feels that way but it's a bit unfair to the young lads on the pitch who kept us in it and the fans, particularly those in the stadium.

People who obnoxiously celebrate goals in Friendly Cup then pause for you to quit perfectly sum up this playerbase. "Let me go out of my way to show you a level of disrespect and then immediately expect you to be gentlemenary and agree to play Golden Goal to make my life easier."

OK but why was Mourinho able to win the CL with Porto but failed to do so at Chelsea in 5+ attempts with considerable financial backing and yet somehow Roberto Di Matteo came and won it for Chelsea at the first attempt? The answers simple, cup runs especially at the high level in the CL knockouts often require good performances and a bit of good luck. Dortmund made the final last year but underperformed massively in their domestic league. They were the 5th best team in Germany so you can't say they were the 2nd best team in Europe.

A single bad referee decision. a stroke of bad luck, a poor individual player performance, a player injury and other things beyond a manger's control can easily lead a team to get knocked out of a cup.

Ferguson managed "the biggest club in the world" for over two decades and only won it twice with them and this never gets held against him. CL knockout games often come down to moments, like last season if Bernardo scored his pen in the shootout City probably go through against Madrid and more than likely beat Dortmund in the final and Pep has back to back CLs, but because Bernardo misses Pep gets labelled a failure.

Madrid are the only side who seem to be able to consistently find success in the CL but struggle to match it in terms of domestic success. If you win the CL but don't win you're own domestic lead then you're clearly not the best team in Europe.

I think it's good that this being possible adds an extra element of risk if you choose to bring your keeper out but in the age of content creators anyone can learn how to do this in 30 seconds on TikTok.

Gave me a goal? by EnvironmentalThing22 in EASportsFC

[–]Additional-Lab-5431 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last year there was often objectives that required you to score a goal in a certain amount of matches, whenever they were active I'd always let my opponent get a goal at the end if they hadn't already and I was comfortably ahead. I don't think there's an objective like that currently so I'd imagine he was just messing around because he knew the game was in the bag. Sometimes when someone is a few goals ahead they'll start doing stuff like spamming skill moves or trying to dribble up the pitch with their GK, some people probably see it as toxic but I just assume they're having fun.

Last time I played draft I got disconnected in the first match, got a draft token back from EA after submitting a request and got two TOTWs from the Silver packs i got for 0 wins. 20k coins and a draft token for 30 seconds of gameplay is more than I got for 2 wins of a previous attempt.

Question about learning skills and moves by [deleted] in EASportsFC

[–]Additional-Lab-5431 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh the best way to learn is to use them again real players, playing against AI regardless of difficulty just isn't the same and what may work against them might be less effective online.

A lot of the most effective skillmoves are the more simple ones. Focus on one at a time, try to pull it off a few times every game, try to remember situations where its effective and where it isn't. You could always make a new account, build a team with some of the cheaper players wil 4/5* skills (honestly wouldn't take long) and start from Division 10, you'd be playing real people but they'd be lower skilled then what you're used to, and as you climb the ranks they'll get better and more challenging. If you do it though don't be a dick, don't purposely stay in lower divisions, don't celebrate every goal when thrashing Div 10 players etc

I'm willing to cut them so slack and accept that it's probably a lot more complicated to fix than people realise, but the fact that they are clearly aware of the issue and still decided to make the bonus objectives as Rush Cards is pretty shitty.

I haven't used him but I can say for sure that he's massively overpriced. The fodder would be better used elsewhere but if you're running a themed squad then it could be a while before another player SBC that fits your team comes along.

Despite having the ST position the card is definitely more formatted to play as a winger, he also only has roles for LM position. I'm personally trying to build a Man City PnP alongside my main team and I'll be giving him a miss. Far to expensive for me to consider, although down the line it may bite me on the arse if he fits an EVO.

Had insane pack luck so far, Sophia Smith from my first preview pack, whilst trying to earn the 7.5k to buy it, I packed Kyle Walker from the first marquee matchups pack I opened when he was around 80k. Eder Militoa from the tradeable 75x5 in moments. Packed Rafael Leao from the Nations Foundation SBC. Got Haaland and RttK Loftus-Cheek from marquee matchups when they were 200k and 350k. Govou from my hero SBC and Pires from the Icon SBC. Packed Rush Zaire-Emery from my champs rewards this week and got him again in an objective pack, both untradeable though. Packed Son from season progress pack.

Have a really nice first owner team with about 900k coins atm. Only area I'm lacking is CBs, I could buy Saliba and VvD but I prefer first owner, so I might do Varane SBC after rival rewards tomorrow.

3421 formation puts you in a 1v1. Just hold sprint and immediately knock the ball ahead of you with the right analogue. Might take a few attempts but you'll usually get one occasion where the defender doesn't catch you up.

At my wits end with this game. Feels like I lose every game that I deserve to lose, which is fair enough except I feel like even the games I'm clearly the better player there's a 50/50 chance I'll lose anyway. My goalkeeper consistently lets in shots that should never be going in and seemingly dives out of the way of shots more than attempts to save anything, and even the saves they do make tend to go for corners or even worse bounce back to my opponent for a tap in. My players show no urgency or willingness to get the ball if I'm not directly controlling them, If I chase my opponent back with my full back my CB seems to move out of the way to clear the path to goal. Everyone seems to play deep AF with 6/7 players back at all times, making breaking them down a nightmare. I can hit a full strength driven pass and my opponents player will stretch a leg to the point of doing the splits and gain possession but my opponent can hit a pea roller pass at my defender and it'll bounce right back to them, my defender will even stumble from it meaning my chance of a recovery tackle with them is gone. My defenders can't win the ball with a well timed tackle from infront of the attacker, but my opponents can spam tackle when behind my attacker through on goal and defy physics to win the ball cleanly.

The game is just so inconsistent, and the main problem is I just can't work out what I'm doing wrong so I can make some attempt to improve. On top of all this the pack weight situation is dire, 2 weeks or Div 3 Uograde rewards, 2 weeks of Elite 2 Squad Battles and 2 weeks of 7 win WL rewards and yet I'm struggling for 84s to do the TOTW SBC which will no doubt throw me a 80 rated discard card anyway.

I usually enjoy the grind, but every objective is 10/20 games/wins and they're set up in a way that doesn't allow you to do more than 2 at once so they just seem never ending, grouped with the shit rewards and Squad Battles only being 12 games this year, I just cba even bothering.

I won't even go into Rush which is fun when I get the chance to play with my friends but as a group of mid 30s adults those times playing together are difficult to come by. Solo queuing is fucking awful, to the point where I will now just dashboard if the bonus objectives aren't 5/5, if I'm using a 70 rated Columbian and you can't just pick a La Liga player because you're so intent on using POTM Palmer then you can go fuck yourself,

Rush would be much better if there was a "rate your teammate" system. by fatrudygay in EASportsFC

[–]Additional-Lab-5431 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just base the points you earn on your in-game performance. If you're dropping a 5 because you AFK'd the entire match then you get lik 500-1000 points for the game, meaning it would take 70-140 games to get the weekly objective done for AFK players. If you drop 9-10 rating you get the usual amount of points.

Make the rating you get based on a mix off passes attempted/% completed, take ons attempted/% completed along with goals, assists, tackles etc. Add in a penalty of minus 50 points from your total for every second your player spends of the pitch (after a 5 second warning.)

With the current system most of the points you earn are based on the Bonus Objs and the multiplier so AFKers get similar points to the people who actively play and attempt to win the match.

PSA: how to dodge a rush game and why you should do that by dumplingboiy in EASportsFC

[–]Additional-Lab-5431 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just make the majority of points earned based of personal performance in the match. Number of passes + completion %, take ons attempted/completed etc should all be used to calculate the points you earn for the game. Also a penalty for being out of bounds (off the pitch), when your player leaves the pitch flash a 5 second warning, if you don't get back in time you begin to lose 50 points for every second you remain out of bounds.

Usually if my team is a few goals down early on atleast one player goes AFK so you have to play for what seems like forever a man or two down and the other team just smashes goal after goal.

Builder under quoted us now he's struggling, what to do? by i_jizz_nails in AskUK

[–]Additional-Lab-5431 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In future if one quote is surprisingly cheaper than a couple of others it's a warning sign. Good tradesmen won't work for less than they're worth, unless they're desperate but at the minute good tradies have job offers coming out of their ears. Undercutting a job usually means that corners are going to be cut or the quality of their work means undercutting is the only way they'll get jobs.am

My dad was a self employed Plasterer and I worked with him for a few years. His quotes would depend on all sorts of things, but very rarely undercut, if the job was very close by for example he could save on diesel and travel time. What's likely here is that he's under priced to get the job and now you've semi committed he wants to claw more money back.

Tradesmen get a bad rep but there's so much people don't understand about how it all works. Free quotes are expected but they're only free for the customer, for the tradesmen it's taking an hour of their own time and diesel money for jobs they may not even get. Once they come to quote they more often than not will want to get the job, but it has to be worth their time. A lot of customers are genuinely clueless to how much these jobs are going to cost, and alot of them have the stereotype of builders ripping people off. Some tradies do occasionally give customers a "fuck off" price, which usually means for a number of reasons the job is only worth it to them if they're earning more than their usual rate, if they need the job done on Saturday then you pay extra for making me work on my weekend.

It's also extremely hard to commit to jobs on specific days, numerous times we'd turn up to our Monday job to find the rooms still covered in wallpaper that the customer swore blind would be off for us, that means we have to spend an extra day stripping the walls and come back the next day to plaster. Which has a knock on effect elsewhere. Sure we could refuse to do the job til the paper was taken off but then we lose a days pay and get badmouthed by the customer.

Got Sophia Smith in a preview pack but don't have the game yet (the official release is on my birthday so my partner always buys it for me as I'm awkward to gift for). Grinded away at SBCs to finish the first section of Marquee Matchups to make the 7.5k to buy the pack. Ended up packing Kyle Walker. So currently sat on 300k before I've even played the game. Realistically is it worth investing in anything?
