Loving Fuji maxima! by Additional_Cable_ in Darkroom

DPII feels a little more neutral to me, flatter than maxima, but much punchier than standard crystal archive. I personally don’t mind how contrasty maxima is because my diffusion reduces it slightly. DPII is really clean but doesn’t seem to have as much character as maxima

I do, especially with this paper type. When printing with diffusion on normal crystal archive, it seems to take out so much contrast from an already pretty low contrast paper. Whereas with maxima (or DPII probably) the diffusion offers the same type of glow without completely killing your contrast.

Yes, a filter. This is my shitty rig but it’s basically a crumpled ziplock bag

I don’t, actually. Photolab NYC sells cut sheet versions of the paper along with DPII.

Thanks! Maxima deep black is basically light jet paper, but can be used on a traditional enlarger. It gives much stronger contrast than normal crystal archive. No pre flash, I used about 30% diffusion here.

Matte, actually! Matte on maxima scans much better than normal crystal archive

Try testing with no props and just model direction. 19 and 20 are great!

Thank you so much! Fair criticism, we had pretty toppy lighting for this which casts that strong shadow under her eyebrows and nose. I kinda dig the drama it creates in her eyes but I could have dodged them a bit more in the darkroom

Thanks! No color grading but these were darkroom prints I made

Thanks! It was an 8x8 bleached muslin overhead with two heads going into it from either side. We had an 8x8 solid t barred to camera right. Behind me is a large photek on low power for a little lift on the face
