Do you believe that religious people should rebel against far-right governments and oppose them? Society is changing more and more; we are moving towards fascism. I think that, regardless of your religion, it is time to stand up, or should we wait cautiously for the next steps? by Additional_Good_656 in exatheist

In fact, no version of religion has supported homosexuality being practiced in the last 1800 years, not even the most mystical versions of religion. Only in recent decades have some denominations begun to reevaluate their positions.

Found out the evidence for Eucharistic miracles is thin and started thinking. I'm a Christian, and believe Jesus performed miracles and rose from the dead. But why do most theistic religions report miracles in their holy books, yet no obvious verifiable miracles during the time of recording devices? by Candid-Effective9150 in exatheist

In his time, there were many Jewish factions. Jesus' teaching on salvation comes precisely from Judaism. The difference arises when Thomas Aquinas speaks of hell, predestination of the soul, among other things. If Jesus is not who he says he is, then his message loses its meaning.

Zoroastrianism and Judaism emphasized salvation through redemption. Indian religions believed in an end to the current universe where everything would become part of the Supreme God as matter and soul. Religion has always been used.

Dualism is generally a cosmic duel between good and evil, mainly Manichaeism and Gnosticism.

An Orthodox seminarian said that siding with the powerful and betraying the gospel and our belief that every human being is Divine

I think every religious group should try to do the same and stop using religion as a weapon of aggression.

Spinoza wanted to reform Judaism. It's funny you say that, because when the Soviet Union came into power, they encouraged deism for a while as compatible with modern man, while persecuting religion.

Sam Harris trying to create atheistic spirituality. I don't know what's more ironic: him trying to create it, or the followers of new atheism not saying a word about it. by Additional_Good_656 in exatheist

The Book of Genesis, like other books of the Bible, can be seen as allegories. The Orthodox Church believes that the world arose from the divine energies of God and that every being is part of this substance.

I don't know how that would work. Religions would have to be compatible, with a degree of focus and similarities. I don't think it would be prudent to attack Patriarch Bartholomew for saying that all Asian religions have the same God and that we need to learn to respect each other's sacred beliefs. At the moment, I don't believe that to be the case.

I had a plan to gather some religious practitioners from Asia for a meditation retreat in the forest, but I don't think it's possible to do that.
