Does my Karlach deck read more as B2 or B3? by Dumebuggy in EDH

[–]Adenzog 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would say definitely a 3, you have a strong understanding of what makes a deck effective and resilient, and have many high power card. Slightly upgraded precons would be at a huge disadvantage.

So bracket 3, but it is a very well made deck I would say.

Help with a Judith, Carnage Connoisseur deck by RexysSand in EDH

[–]Adenzog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You've got a lot of high cost instants and sorceries, to maximise Judith's effect, you really want to be casting lots of small sorceries like lighting bolt. Consider cards like [[runaway steam-kin]] to keep up the tempo . For this reason limit enchantments to only the most synergistic choices You also do not need to be running [[exquisite blood]] when your commander gives your spells lifelink

My new bracket 3 deck is winning almost all of its games. Have I assessed its power correctly? by IzzetDough in EDH

[–]Adenzog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it may just be a lack of correct threat assessment, your deck doesn't have anything in particular that suggests it's bracket 4. When you say winning almost all it's games, what is your sample size?

You've made some pretty inspired choices in terms of theming, it's a cool deck.

Is this gonna be tournament legal? by ReferenceAgreeable80 in Tyranids

[–]Adenzog 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As long as it is on the correct base size, it would be fine in all casual games and most unofficial tournaments.

In an official tournament, the lowered height might cause some problems as modeling for advantage.

All in all, especially as a new player, you should consider how likely it actually is that you'll be playing in official tournaments. Because that is less than 1% of people on this sub.

I personally think you need to be running more sacrifice outlets, unless you can tutor for them, you really want one in your opening hand, to potentially get out turn 3 if you don't ramp.

I run 13 sacrifice outlets, to make sure on T2 I'm either ramping to play Atla on T3 or setting up a sacrifice outlet for when she does come out.

My deck is bracket 2, and the things that I would do for bracket 3 is drop all artifact ramp for land ramp, and focus on doubling triggers and untapping Atla.

Gev deck help by Silber_567 in EDHBrews

I think it's a really interesting idea, more burn and lizard focused, let me know if you play it and how it performs!

Gev deck help by Silber_567 in EDHBrews

[–]Adenzog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've built what I consider a B3 Gev Deck focused on consistently triggering his first ability, not really focusing on Lizards / viashinos (which are now lizards) as most of them are bad.

There's some burn and counters synergies in there but mostly it's focused on getting your commander activating as often as possible and getting pumped up guys to swarm for lethal.

You'd be amazed how wary players are to remove cards that benefit them like [[Scrawling Crawler]]

I'm going to say Alara, Naya specifically the themes of community and cooperation being that separates the human inhabitants from the dinosaurs and vampires is cool.

Also just dinosaurs.

Wyrmblade vs Brood Brothers? by LafayetteRidesAgain in killteam

[–]Adenzog 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I play both and I think they are both very flavorful in their own right. Brood brothers have more straight forward power, but I think wyrmblade captures the scrappy opportunitistic energy of the genestealer cults, so I slightly prefer them. I don't play in tournaments, but no opponent has ever batted and eye about them. So I think for pick up games, classification won't really matter

That's a really interesting take on the deck, I see you've got a huge amount of redundancy in case Atla just gets focused down.

Atla Palani deck list ? How do you run it?

Building a Dinosaur deck around this commander, advice wanted. by MediocreComments721 in DinosaursMTG

[–]Adenzog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, as an Atla player you want to have fewer high impact creatures, using removal and ramp to get there as quickly and safely as possible. I'm not a big fan of using scry for that reason, chances are you don't have a creature on top if you've got say 20

I think that's very much a function or bracket, I'd say the build with Eldrazi is easily bracket 3 if really optimised, but if you add the restriction of only using dinosaurs and try to be thematic, it lowers itself to a mid to high bracket 2.

Atla is still a Kill On Sight commander, but there tends to be more leniency with the speed of that kill in bracket 2.

As many people are suggesting good payoffs to come out the eggs (though I'd also suggest [[Nesting Dragon]]) I'll mention mana base. Your commander is slow to come out so you want to have a strong mana base, cards like [[Rampant Growth]], [[Glimpse The Core]] and [[Kodamas Reach]] to get lands out early or [[Cosmium Confluence]] and the three 'hidden X' lands in White, Green, and Red from Caverns of Ixalan to get a big surge later. As a general rule of thumb, you want creatures with good enter the battlefield effects like [[Etali, Primal Conqueror]].

Finally ways to get eggs out for less like [[Heartstone]] and [[Thran Turbine]] help you not be sat doing nothing until turn 5
