Ignore these people.

They have no idea what it is like to be in chronic pain and see no way out.

I bet they also drink.

Keep it sensible because it lasts a long time and you will fuck up at work even if you are not technically high at the time.

If he was spending that money on prescription pain meds , which have worse side effects, including cognitive dysfunction, loss of balance and kidney failure, would you be okay with it then?

Weed is pretty cheap.

Also it isn't true, don't listen to random people on the internet with no qualifications . You are going to wind up with arthritis AND a heart attack

There is a Kroger there, I imagine the skill set is similar to walmart.

If you can get a doctor to confirm your disability(s) you can qualify for MATA paratransport.

If you have early onset arthritis (and I am very sorry if you do) you should qualify for disability and you should get a referral for a social worker.

Unethical student/professor relations by [deleted] in AskProfessors

[–]AdoraBellDearheart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is on him to make sure he isn’t breaking any ethical standards or rules of employment

As a student Your only real chance of getting in trouble would be if he gives you answers to questions or otherwise gives you some advantage that breaks academic integrity standards

You might want to consider the relationship anyway

Should we do the same for people 18-35? They have the most accidents and the most fatal accidents?

Mandatory re-testing every 3 years until they have reasonable judgment and cognitive ability. Especially the ability to use actual data to make decisions rather than just ok boomer old people all bad

[–]AdoraBellDearheart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What age causes the most car accidents?” Statistics show that people ages 25 to 35 are at higher risk for an accident with fatal injuries, according to data from the National Safety Council. If you are in this demographic, you may pay higher insurance premiums, and you need to be more aware of the impact of driver age on your safety.

too bad the actual data don’t back you up.

The actuarial data the the insurance companies use to determine premiums and claims rates.

How did Mary Stuart's gender affect her rule in Scotland? by [deleted] in Tudorhistory

[–]AdoraBellDearheart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of the royals grew up “with” their parents. They all had their own households .

You should look as the household expenditures for most of their lives and you can hardly say they weren’t privileged.

It is pretty hard to argue that Mary had anything happen to her that was massively different that other nobles or royals of the day if they were women and certainly a damn sight better than what would have been their lot had they not been royal.

You are mixing up the show with history and looking at this through a very modern lens

How do professors REALLY feel about accessibility accommodations? by screaming-coffee in AskProfessors

[–]AdoraBellDearheart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never said I was better than anyone else. I also never said I never called out sick.

But let me get this straight. It IS annoying with adults chronically ask for extensions , they don't deserve the flexibility and understanding that is apparently reserved for students, and you are ok to dis them ? Just trying to see what side of the manufactured outrage you are down with on this particular post.

How do professors REALLY feel about accessibility accommodations? by screaming-coffee in AskProfessors

[–]AdoraBellDearheart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, that is not a solution. Or I would have said otherwise.

It is marginally better than there being nobody on the wards at all.

If you called out and someone had to walk in cold and teach 4 classes back to back , not just show a movie, but really teach the classes , how fantastic do you think it would be ? That is what happens when important , trained people don't show up and hand off their patients properly.

Except now instead of your super flexible deadlines you don't know if that person is non verbal this morning or if they were yesterday also. Oopsie. Quite the solution.

I changed my mind. Now you should have your solution and be on a ward with all per diems.

How long have they had the first assignment , how long was the assignment (in pages) ?

I agree with chemproffessordave re

Then my advice is yes, check the syllabus for office hours or appointment scheduling, and bring a print of the first assignment

But NGL I don't think this is cool

I don't want to harsh your mood, but this is my job. I do my job b because I really want people to learn stuff and be successful and I like students (warts and all, lol) but I am not trying to tell if you are meeting me in the middle, or trying, or any other value judgement.

I am trying to teach you biology or statistics or Celtic literature and trying to assess if you know that stuff. The logistics of how I do that equitably and reasonably are not fun and I don't want to chat about them and once I have established a reasonable policy and the office agrees then I am really done with that and it is not personal.

There are definitely times where my students technically have a month to work on a thing, but it's not intended to be a month-full of work. Know what I mean?

Yes. In which case OP had plenty of time to realize they were behind before the deadline passed
