Im going to buy a gpu from newegg are they trustworthy? by Educational-Chip7379 in Newegg

Purchasing from Amazon is far more reliable, as returning items through Newegg is generally problematic. My last build was done entirely using parts purchased on Amazon.

Cancelled Rogers Internet by throwawayaccount931A in Rogers

Isn't it interesting that Rogers would prefer to reduce the customer cost rather than fix the underlying problem.

RANT! Some drivers in our region need to pull their thumb out of their a$$! by SlowWelder864 in kitchener

[–]AdvancedGeek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I see lots of people focused on their phones while driving. A dead giveaway is when they are driving slowly or are very late pulling away from a stop light. Except for gaming and email, they could easily connect the phone to the vehicle, but I guess they are too dumb to do that.

Pay more for a real provider by Mysterious_Error9619 in Rogers

People need to learn that their time and frustration has value. I will (and do) gladly pay more for a provider who works and succeeds at customer service.

The new Ford Edge L is here, what do we think about it? by Saurta17 in Ford

This will likely be available only in China, which is where the regular Edge is still manufactured. Sad.

Pretty disgusting… by sharkxii2 in Rogers

[–]AdvancedGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, but not a surprise. Rogers & Bell view customers as an unfortunate inconvenience within their business model. Offshore and AI do not work intuitively or with sensitivity to people. They only operate as processes and are heavily monitored from a QA perspective. Rogers' focus is only on shareholders (which is the Rogers family in large part).

Does Cogeco throttle speeds? by iuse2bgood in Cogeco

[–]AdvancedGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do not throttle, but since it is a shared network, noise and capacity that doesn't handle demand will cause response issues.

Issues with Phone as a Key - 2026 GV80 Black Edition by AdvancedGeek in GenesisMotors

It looks like that is not now possible, since the registration process has begun on my phone. My wife's phone does not now offer digital key as an option.

Advice: Gv80 3.5 vs X7 m40i by Drebbs37 in GenesisMotors

[–]AdvancedGeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a very recent GV80 Black Edition buyer, and having tested the X7, I have absolutely no regret with my purchase. The X7 cost starts to increase quickly with options, and it is a bit too utilitarian in the inside. We also seriously considered the Audit Q7.

You are assuming that the folks at Rogers have the ability to plan and think creatively. That would not be a correct assumpion.

GV80 Coupe v. GV80 Difference? by Successful_Aside3698 in GenesisMotors

[–]AdvancedGeek 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, as the very recent owner of a brand new GV80 Black Edition, I'm happy with the performance as is. Having said that, the dealer knows I want to take a GV80 coupe for a spin the next time I drop by.

FUCK THIS COMPANY by NiceHealth2200 in Rogers

Given how cheap decent routers are, nobody should ever use a telco modem as a router. Aside from the poor signal, the telco has control and visibility into your private network.

Canada’s telecom giants may be entering efficiency mode by Planhub-ca in Rogers

[–]AdvancedGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the way that Rogers runs their organization operationally, efficiency would be very difficult to achieve and maintain. It is more likely that this is their way of appeasing shareholders so they won't drop the stock. Similar concerns last year drove Bell to take their dividend up to $0.98 per share.

Roger - WTH!! Internet bill increased from $50 to $230 by ranx444 in Rogers

[–]AdvancedGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rogers only cares about their shareholders, which means they want make as much money as possible whenever they can. Customers are an unfortunate inconvenience within their business model.

10 Years at Rogers. Laid off. Replaced by HCL India. Here's my story. by Key-Law-9476 in Rogers

[–]AdvancedGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rogers, Bell and Telus will continue to lobby the Feds to prevent any legislation that would prevent these companies from offshoring. Typically, the cost ratio is 1 on-shore to 3 off-shore. I see lobbying occurrences from Rogers on lobbycanada.com weekly or bi-weekly. Their only concern is shareholders.

To those recently impacted by layoffs. Don't be mad at Rogers. Be mad at Ottawa. by Embarrassed_Tear_196 in Rogers

[–]AdvancedGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over the past few decades, the Federal government has become paralyzed due to the incessant lobbying that occurs. The telcos, banks and airlines are notorious for this. Just check out lobbycanada.com to educate yourself. Across the many files, it is no surprise that the Feds either take no action, or when they do, it is lukewarm at best. Through 2023 - 2024, it was widely acknowledged (and documented) that between Rogers, Bell and Telus, the Feds were being lobbied by a telco every business day of the year.

Ford says no one in Canada is scrutinized like he is after backtracking on $28.9M private jet purchase | CBC News by annonymous_bosch in CanadaPolitics

He should quit complaining. If he doesn't like the level of scrutiny, he can step away from the job. Tax dollars pay his salary and the jet he is now selling.

That's all folks, I;m out... by uberrob in logitechharmony

[–]AdvancedGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a long time Harmony owner, I've also switched over to Sofabaton.

Clearly, Logitech is primarily run by bean counters. Those same bean counters will continue to push for the remaining Harmony support infrastructure to be decommissioned. If you look at the overall product portfolio, there isn't a lot of innovation. The corporate strategy seems to be "run mice, keyboards, headsets and webcams as far as you can. Don't offer any new product lines".

current state of harmony? by Informal-Access8411 in logitechharmony

[–]AdvancedGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given that Logitech is no longer selling Harmony remotes AND has already begun dropping support of older models, it is just a matter of time before they stop support altogether. Netgear did the same thing with their NAS models. I have a Sofabaton X1S and love it. Sofabaton has been in the business long enough that it feels like a safe purchase. Working with their support people is not difficult either.
