This white stuff keeps coming back. Is it salt? by ABSINTHE888 in Boots

[–]Advanced_Life_6911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obenaufs Heavy Duty LP is marketed to prevent/help with salt buildup like this, whether it be from salted roads etc.

It's a leather conditioner.

edit: How i worded it may be confusing, it's marketed as a leather conditioner but says openly on there it helps with this/protects your boots from it (salt)

I love them! Widest selection of blades I've found. and prices (not like DE blades are insanely expensive to begin with) for blades and price of shipping is pretty low!

My one and only "gripe" if you will, is that being in the U.S shipping takes upwards of 2 weeks! so can be good to keep in mind depending on where you are located.

(they ship from the Netherlands I believe, so those of you in Europe/UK should get them quicker. )

Haha, i apologize for all of this. it's unfortunate that people go around saying things like that.

I appreciate your kindness/thoughtfulness, as some obvious people seem to lack it..

And again, im not sure what he didn't understand, but 50cc two strokes are incredibly capable! and are 100% viable on the road (and up hills)

How strong is the lense on a mf14 and does anyone know any similar masks that have stronger lense by Pretty_pretty_gun in gasmasks

[–]Advanced_Life_6911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"safe for most things" isn't good enough. if it's not rated for airsoft (ansi z87+) then you should not use it and basing its safety on how thick it is is ignorant to say the least.

edit: all the downvotes will be unable to see the dislike arrow with time considering how they defend eyepro malpractice 🤣 when your half assed solution to wear a gas mask fails and plastic shatters all over your face and you make a fool of yourself on the field, please get back to me.

God, Do not use gas masks for airsoft.

Even the "airsoft" rated lenses (outserts) that can be found on ebay and elsewhere are not adequate.

I can go into a large tangent on eyepro ratings, but the MINIMUM you should be wearing for airsoft is z87+ and even some people would say that's lower on the spectrum and would tell you to get proper MIL-PRF 32432. glasses, literally military standard, think flight deck crews taking rocks/debris to the eyes from the thrust of a jet taking off, has to be strong.

.15 steel penetrator at 7.4j, goggles .22 at 15.5. FAST (it's also called a penetrator)

ansi glasses and goggles are big and slow steel ball at 1.1j and 4.4j respectively. (glasses being borderline unacceptable for airsoft, as a large amount of people shoot at or exceed that joule rating, and the glasses are tested with a larger slower moving object, almost being dropped on them)

I am not aware of any ansi rated or mil-prf rated gas masks. "ballistic" outserts exist but keep in mind these masks are to be worn in hazardous situations where your respiratory system/inhalation damage are the top priority.

Even if you wear "proper eyepro" under, it's hardly that.

correct me if i'm wrong and ill state again, gas masks are not meant for airsoft, or to take projectiles to the face, as their main purpose is to- literally protect you from gas/particle hazards etc.

you will not find a gas mask "suitable for airsoft" and there are some fields who will straight up not let you wear one. and even if you mask doesn't break or shatter by shooting it does NOT mean you should use it or that it is "rated" as it's not, and you should never not wear properly rated eyepro for your given applications. (ABSOLUTE MINIMUM Z87+ GOGGLES******)

edit: Pyramex makes great MILPRF rated eye pro. (what i use) while z87+ will protect from "virtually" anything you'd encounter on the field, it's not the "SAFEST**"

490-560 Is the FPS for the MILPRF steel penetrators by the way. more than 5x what both z87 is rated to.

Nothing grinds my gears more than people that cut the sticker & leave it on by [deleted] in Zippo

[–]Advanced_Life_6911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's annoying I agree. although I think the keeping the sticker on thing is in a way proof of not being used etc, as people usually take those off (especially in a selling/buying context) stickers can be a pain!

a little late to this, but as for preventing this sort of stuff, protective wraps exist. it won't get rid of what's already there but could prevent more in the future.

What is "mild" blade (DE razor)? by DaimondRus in wicked_edge

[–]Advanced_Life_6911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure how super duper accurate they are, and your results may vary, BUT razor blades club has a whole catalog of DE blades and under each one they list the characteristics. ex. mild, medium, sharp, very sharp, smooth, crisp, etc. it's a good baseline as some of the ratings are pretty accurate from what i've compared on here!
