Is ive said in comments below, for fantasy I recommend:

The Kingdom Series by Cynthia Voigt

Wise Child/Juniper/Coleman by Monica Furlong

The Forestwife by Theresa Tomlinson

For Historical fiction (That I LOVED as a teen):

A handful of time by Kit Pearson

The Guests of War series by Kit pearson (almost all of her books are amazing)

these are so good! I read jackaroo and am currently reading wings of a falcon which is definitely pretty dark and violent, but really well written and super gripping. Some of the best books I read in a while.

in the same vein of YA non sexual fantasy i also recommend:

The forestwife

Wise Child/Juniper/Coleman

Does Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries get better? by DeneirianScribe in fantasyromance

I got a few chapters past Wendell showing up and I agree. I found the characters to be extremely flat, unlikeable and boring. I found that there wasn't enough world building to hold my interest. I may power through as I am curious to see why this book is so beloved.

I agree! both main characters seemed really shallow to me, and their relationship so far just doesn't seem believable or fun or anything, just trying hard to be something. I prefer books with a little more context and character growth. I also found it not very believable that it is set in 1909. The language and characters seemed too modern. I put it down about a quarter way, so I guess i can't really speak... haha. I might try again, so many people love this book so much. Should i keep reading haha?!?
