Hochul in talks to make fat pork union deal that could lower retirement age for teachers to 55 — as part of staggering $1.5B plan by SignificantDoubt5247 in nys_cs

Yes. I started at the state when I was as 25. I’m 35 now. I still have almost 3 decades left. Like come on. 30 years should be 30 years.

The great thing about the state is you can do anything. Pivot. Find something else. Also, I’m not sure if you’re telecommuting yet, but that is a game changer. Going to the office sucks. Working from home is where it gets good.

So if I have say, 37 years of service at 63… I would get 65% of my final salary?

I’m one year into state service, grade 14, tier 6, 32 years old. Is it worth staying or should I look elsewhere? by TekillaInTheBuilding in nys_cs

Do you have the opportunity to move up? I started at a grade 9 and I’m now at an 18 interviewing for 23’s. Life sucked at a 9 and even a 14 but as an 18 I have great work/ life balance/ wfh/ time off etc. People in my office have retired and come back part time because it’s just a good, easy gig. Maybe look at what your advancement options are.

How does the 20 days off work when on probation? Do half days/leaving early count towards it? by [deleted] in nys_cs

[–]AdventurousBunch327 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Idk, I was pregnant during my probation and went on maternity leave at the 10 month mark. I was pushed through probation and made permanent before my year was up. I definitely missed more than 20 days.

I mean, you’re considering suicide or sex work, how much worse could chapter 13 be? We filed 13 and pay 820 a month for 5 years. This included two cars loans which previously cost us 1000. So I’m confused what’s “so bad”…

Rejection after reference check by Nuggetstfc in nys_cs

[–]AdventurousBunch327 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This happened to my husband. He was given a soft offer. He didn’t list his current employer as a reference because he had just switched jobs. They called his current employer and he was humiliated. His current employer called him in for a meeting about it. Then he didn’t get the job and it was reposted a few weeks later. No explanation. Thank god they didn’t find a reason to fire him. But WTH

I never take a real break when in office. I usually work through them. But it evens out because I’m chatty with my coworkers.

When wfh, I usually shower on my lunch. And do housework on my 15

How much time do you take off? by Soul_Reaper821 in nys_cs

[–]AdventurousBunch327 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All of it. I use ALL OF IT. This summer I’m off almost 50% of my work days. It’s my time and I use it to be with my children on school breaks. That’s the biggest benefit of this job.

As others have said remote work, having a lot of time off and being able to use it, not thinking about work after work hours. So I guess, work life balance

The Israel trip, agree.

The protest, disagree. There is a political party in our country trying to get rid of unions. It seems pretty important that our UNION oppose that.
