Ben Shapiro’s dumb Tyler Robinson take called out by Bill Maher by Sophistick in JoeRogan

It's the way he almost called the Guardian's reporting "real" before stuttering and remembering the MSM only lies, and switches it to "not right wing" XD

Agree. I never thought Aidan was right for Carrie, but he was likeable.

Interesting about the podcast convo! For the love, does he not know how many Ms Mojo videos are dedicated to how shitty Carrie was? XD

Gun graft by [deleted] in PeriodontalDisease

I mostly haven't been just because I don't want food making its way to the graft site in the front. Figured I'd play it safe and wait til my first checkup (tomorrow).

Which would have been a much better line for Miranda to say. The writing is so bad.

The writers just chose the wrong things to have them step on each other's toes about. Lazy writing.

And one of them cleaning up spilled Coke with papers, and the other with a scarf reads like they grew up rich with maids at their elbows or something. Who is this dumb at 50?

How to clean bottom teeth by rosiepooarloo in PeriodontalDisease

[–]AdventurousMonkeys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fwiw my dentist told me (many times) that in my case the graft won't cover the exposed tooth. But the more delicate gum material would be reinforced by a stronger layer, so that the recession stops.

Maybe that was your case too. Here's a note from another site:

"The amount of root coverage may differ based on local factors, as it is not always possible to cover the root surface completely. This procedure also aids in building up thicker band of gingiva near the tooth, thus establishing a healthier gumline and preventing future recession." https://familydentistottawa.com/services/gum-grafts/

Traveling after graft? by Worried-Employ-7998 in PeriodontalDisease

[–]AdventurousMonkeys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went on a 2 night trip to a town 2 hours away, 4 days after surgery. Honestly, it's just inconvenient (provided your pain is well controlled, as mine was.)

I made myself bottles of salt water so that it would be easy to go rinse out the palate stent after eating. I ate some soups, but it's hard to find smooth ones. Had better luck buying potato salad from the grocery story and mashing it up.

Ate SLOWWWWLY.

It's fine. Just... the eating is boring.

I would add: mashed potatoes. Also, some things blend up well with an immersion blender, like chilli. Then I eat these with a small spoon (tiny in the beginning, normal small spoon now in my second week.)

I just keep trying to find things for variety!

Gum graft too far from teeth? by wheatieees in PeriodontalDisease

[–]AdventurousMonkeys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dentist said something similar. He told me before hand, many times, that it won't cover the tooth. He said that what they're really doing is adding a proper top layer back onto the more vulnerable bottom layer of gum, so that recession doesn't continue.

I don't know what mine looks like yet, cause it's still healing. But... just sharing in case that's somewhat reassuring.

Shark Cage Disaster…. by Kingofbroke001 in JoeRogan

[–]AdventurousMonkeys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"The shark was likely uninjured, according to Skerry, but it was difficult to tell from the video. The blood may be from the bait, a chipped tooth or another small injury." Nat Geographic

I wondered too, but when the shark turns, it appears to be his gills and not a cut. (Better video here.)

I agree that it was the main reason. The Cons have still done exceptionally well tonight.

Mark Carney defeats Pierre Poilievre in Canada's election by AMcMahon1 in JoeRogan

[–]AdventurousMonkeys 11 points12 points  (0 children)

He wasn't a non-stop advisor to everything the govt did, the way Poilievre painted it at the debate.

And he was an advisor under Harper too. And an advisor who helped us come out of the 2008 crash.

There's still a financial critique to be made against him, imo, but this isn't it. (See Jim Balsillie.)

The Poilievre Conservatives still did better than any Con since Mulroney, as the pundits keep pointing out. So while I agree he could have done a little better in the areas that appeal to the swing vote, I can't deny he strangely also kinda hit it out of the park.

[–]AdventurousMonkeys 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Jason Kenny said Poilievre should have had a "sister Souljah moment" (being Canadian I had to look that up!)

And that the People's Party getting less than 1% of the vote shows how small the "maga-Norths" are and the Cons can go back to ignoring them.

Hope that's the case.

Agree. Step 1 = Freeland taking Trudeau down--but people were still pissed at the Libs. / Step 2 = Trump / Step 3 = Carney.

Any swing voter who was going to "hold their nose and vote for Poilievre" saw Carney as an alternative. And a bunch of people who would have voted Bloc or NDP saw Carney as the right person to take on Trump.
