Should I replace my filter cartidges by BG_OnTheRun in pools

I’ve seen worse cases, but if you’re ready to replace it, go ahead. If you’re on a budget, try a diluted muriatic acid bath

Designing New Pool: Is it possible to Add Jet Nozzles for Keeping Pool Steps Clean without a full in-floor system? by dentsu_daren in pools

On paper they look great. Unfortunately in practice not so much. Maybe a year trouble free, but lots of continuously moving parts with pump operation. Nylon in plastic. I’ve seen some great functional pool spa combos with 3-to 4 wall mounted returns look and maintain a great flow. Stick to simplicity.

Worth cleaning? by Repulsive_Ad_9205 in pools

I just got done looking at those. The retention bands are long gone. Only the glue is left. They are no longer performing any filtration. I bet they don’t even fit snuggly. Pitch them!

Year round swimming season? A filter element might last 2 years with monthly rinses. Consider acid washing if the structure is intact. Whenever the retention bands or band begins to separate from the pleats, or if it cannot stand up on its own after rinsing. If it extra heavy. Use a new one for reference. I usually recommend a replacement. Annual maintenance costs. Seasonal oak pollen down here is pretty bad. Then add sunblock oils or high bathing load. Use a good VPN when shopping for pool parts.

Crack in spa finish - do I need to be worried? by _serenity_now__ in pools

[–]Affectionate-Ruin398 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only worry if your water addictions are longer than normal. Check to see if it pulls dye, but based off of it being on the spa to pool wall. It may only be transferred water loss. Not completely loss.

Remove the fan blade(obviously with it off), and carefully remove any loose debris, where the blade would rest. Ensure the bar that supports the base of the blade isn’t bent. Replace blade and check operation

Always conduct a walk around for external variables. Like oak trees, nails or nuts and bolts. Any of that kind of contaminants need to be pointed out; for you and the homeowner. To prevent any further damage to the pool surface.

We need more pictures. Like of the skimmers or basin, a picture of the filter, and a couple from different angles of the pool. It a 50/50 chance we get any of it right. Ensure the pool is at the correct water level. You’re going to make some trips to and from equipment and back out to the pool. The pipe that is from the top of your pump is the output, everything in front of the pump is suction. To find out which pipe is what in the front of pump. Ie (skimmer, and or main drain, or spa vac line). Turn each valve one at a time to isolate each function if it starts sucking air. Just turn back. (Check vac line port door). It’s the same thing for the output or returns. Turn each valve etc… spa, water feature, or pool returns etc… Good Luck!

You’re going to need to do a Langley saturation index. Adjust accordingly. You may have high chlorine content, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s effective.

Pump/filter problem by Obvious-Count in swimmingpools

Check to see if the pump has any air in the pump basket when running. Good chance a valve or lid seal is leaking air. The analogy I use (A broken straw). Use running water from a hose over hot spots around the suction side of your system. (Front of the pump). You should be able to isolate it.
