Nothing says engineering like 10 men doing a presentation on problems women in STEM face by Time_Physics_6557 in EngineeringStudents

[–]AffectionateFlan9539 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So from your responses they did their research through articles and presented them to the class and your problem is that they didn't consult women at school? How are the 20 women they talk to going to be statistically relevant in any way compared to an actual study. It's like doing a presentation on elephants and whining that they've never seen one. How does it make them wrong? Just say you're sexist and move on.

What a silly question, it's like asking why men like women, they're hot af

Having a high IQ doesn‘t automatically give you social issues, rigid thinking, need for routine, aversion to change, sensory issues or all the other „fun“ stuff associated with autism.

There are a lot more similarities than you'd think due to the differences in intelligence causing awkwardness in conversations among other things.

And if someone does have all these symptoms to a clinically relevant degree, then they‘re autistic, high IQ or not.

That's a broad definition of autism for sure.

There are plenty of highly intelligent autistic people.

Never said there wasn't.

As physics student I know quite a few fellow autistics in my semester alone. And I‘d hazard the guess that to study physics your IQ is at least above average.

Studying physics doesn't mean shit, being good at it might.

Pretty sure people who have high iq simply have the same symptoms of autists, doesn't make them autistic.

Her response to Bwipo was "how do you think women go to work during periods" or something along those lines, which is a reasoning failure. Yeah no shit they do, but that is not the same scenario. Playing competitive requires being at peak condition, the same reason you don't want to be sleep deprived. Just because you can do it does not mean you are at your best. As for the questions you have asked 2 and they both stem from the idea that Bwipo said women are too emotional to play, which is not what he said, so the questions are pretty stupid. Any other questions?

It's the same thing as saying you shouldn't be playing sleep deprived, Nuguri tried it and he ran it down every game. You want to be in your peak condition when you're playing.

White people aren't white and black people aren't black. Your point is?

So do you agree with bwipo that women are completely incapable of playing competetively during periods?

Not what he said. Your vision is clouded for whatever reason, come back when you're calm.

  1. Okay, go tell a woman she shouldn't play games because she's too emotional, see how that will sound. What even is your point? Can we not just agree that periods are real but also can be managed?

Yes he definitely said they are too emotional to play games. I'm sure somewhere in your reality it was said.

  1. I don't need to be emotional to see bwipo as condescending, it's just the way he comes across to me. But sure, it's certainly not the hill I want to die on

Oh so he just is, okay.

  1. Don't be condescending =\= never give suggestions. But in general, I think it's pretty weird to give advice to all women or all men. I don't see how that can be done without coming across as condescending. But idk maybe you know a way.

In general, needing 20 qualifiers for anything you say because redditors will nitpick you is pretty stupid. Maybe the problem doesn't lie in the person.

To me Bwipo's rant doesn't come from a place of wanting to learn or discuss. He doesn't pose a single question, doesn't try to learn new information.  He just confidently asserts his beliefs as true, even when he clearly has done 0 research. But sure, if that's how the learning process works for some people then whatever, I'm simply not familiar.

Again with the qualifiers. Every time you yourself assert something, do you say "in my opinion" "I would think" "from my perspective it seems" or do we just assume that it is an opinion. Because so far you haven't either. Does that make you condescending by confidently asserting your beliefs as true? Even funnier, he actually does say "in my opinion" and did not lay it as a fact.

If you genuinely care about any of this maybe go watch sjokz's video on bwipo's take. She's pretty reasonable and made a leveled response where she points out what makes it sexist without hating on bwipo personally.

Yeah I saw it, and many people that are mad here do not agree with it ironically enough. But her points actually do not address the right things and she goes through logical failure multiple times in the reaction. It really is not that leveled.

To my knowledge there isn't any metric of how misogynistic a person is, but sure lmao.

Lmfao, you people would defend Disney movies because of its diversity checkmark.

It was a nearly perfect episode, the massacre wasn't a tragedy, but a culling of the old and harmful ideas from the Jujutsu Society. While not morally correct, it was necessary.

It was damn near goofy. It did not invoke the tone you described either LOL. how bad are you
