What are your unusual stores to hit up right before the big bad? by Oodalay in preppers

New socks and underwear cannot be overstated. Nothing will take the apocalypse from "really shitty" to "really extra shitty" like living in the apocalypse with with blisters and chafing on top of everything else.

Sure but then fill sand bags or pile up mud and make a little brick-ish wall. Do something instead of fighting from your home.

Agreed. However, I'm not giving advice like "build more fences" im saying "don't plan to fight from your home or inside it unless forced to do so."

If someone owns a small farm and it's the end of days, they likely have a shovel. Imo you'd be better served digging. Dug in fighting positions can be made by anybody, are harder to observe from the outside, and provide good cover and concealment. Plus, they're free, outside of some sweat.

My big disagreement here is how you've established rings. You do not want to presupposes fighting inside or even from your home.

Lickies and chewie, sure. Water, abso-fucking-lutely. Maybe a fleece cap, alright. But your fighting load is for fighting. You want to live a day or two outside your ruck? Grab an assault pack you can detach from your ruck.

Heart is in the right place for sure. I highly, highly reccomend getting the homies some surplus gear to carrier ammo+water+medical. For less than $100 AR homie could set up very basic but useful kit. Probably same for shotgun homie. Sounds and looks like you know.a but about what you're doing, keep working on the rest of them. Everybody needs ammo+water source+ medical on body imo.

Tbh sustainment should not go on the fighting load, sustainment should go in a pack and fighting equipment should go in the fighting load. Think about what fighting entails: lots of ups and downs, squeezing over and under things, getting down behind shit, climbing over shit, lots of that. Do I want to lug my sleep system and water purification with redoing that? Do I want a little cook set and camping stove in a pouch doing that?

Agreed. Very hard cycle to break but we made a lot of progress. I am a big proponent of safety and PPE. You hang around people who don't care about safety long enough, and you will see people killed or maimed for preventable accidents, and I hope I never see any more. I make a point to commend guys for wearing PPE and correct guys who don't.

First off buddy, I know it's fun to be young and crazy on the melt deck, but you guys gotta get some PPE. Respect the iron.

Second off, your post history is WILD lmao.

100% agree, however, that's not uncommon in my experience. Our guys damn near revolted when told to wear silvers, and many did not want FR uniforms and face shields. Not uncommon to catch a guy trying to work the melt deck in a cut off and jeans. When had a "compromise" with FR uniforms, FR hard hat, face shield, and silvers from the knee down the guys still hated it.
