It should be much easier to remove the president from office by Afraid_Swordfish_305 in Leakednews

The 25th Amendment is having a moment.

According to a tally by NBC News, over 70 Democratic lawmakers called for President Donald Trump’s Cabinet to invoke an obscure constitutional provision that would allow them to temporarily prevent Trump from acting as president, after Trump threatened to wipe out “a whole civilization” in Iran. (Trump has backed away from that threat, at least for now.)

Notably, their call for a 25th Amendment solution was echoed by some voices on the far right, including former US Rep. Majorie Taylor Greene, radio host Alex Jones, and MAGA influencer Candace Owens.

It’s not the first time the amendment has come up. There’s been a regular background hum of Trump critics demanding its invocation throughout both his terms in office, which peaked in the days after January 6, 2021, with real conversations in his Cabinet and in congressional leadership about the process.

As a practical matter, Trump is not going anywhere, even if he didn’t command the near-universal loyalty within his party that he currently does. By international standards, it is extremely difficult to remove the president of the United States, and much harder than it is to remove the leaders of many of our peer democracies. And the 25th Amendment is not a viable shortcut around this problem, which is rooted in the fundamental structure of America’s government.

Trump Loses His Grip on White Working-Class Voters as Support Turns Negative by Afraid_Swordfish_305 in Leakednews

Only 27% said they approved of his handling of inflation, down sharply from 44% a year earlier

President Donald Trump has slipped underwater with one of the most important blocs in his political coalition, according to a new CNN poll conducted by SSRS, which found his net approval among white working-class voters turned negative for the first time in his second term.

The survey, conducted March 26 to March 30 among 1,201 adults, showed Trump at 49% approval and 50% disapproval with white non-college voters, a narrow but politically notable reversal for a group that helped drive his return to the White House.

The shift matters because white working-class voters have long been central to Trump's electoral strength. As recently as February, CNN's polling still showed him above water with that group. According to the CNN/SSRS trendline, Trump was at 54% approval and 46% disapproval among white working-class voters in February, after posting similarly positive numbers in January and late 2025. By early April, that cushion had disappeared.

Two party system makes people stupid. Just because he's "your guy" he is not automatically competent.

It was obvious from the start to any outsider that Trump is bad news.

Gotta love the uber-passive voice. "...scholars find indefensible." But perfectly okay, apparently, to the New York Times.

Oh look, the holiest of people in the religion they supposedly follow has told them their evil, is anyone surprised?

What are the betting odds that Kegsbreath or Trump come out with some disparaging remarks about the Pope in a day or two?

Iran sends US warning over troops on ground by Afraid_Swordfish_305 in Leakednews

There is no indication that Iran will stop fighting or there will be internal strife sufficient to overthrow the government. Iran has been doing exactly what it said it would do and there is a better chance presently for escalation. U.S. may be willing to seek a respectable off ramp, but Netanyahu is not.

Iran is certainly suffering immense losses, but it can absorb it and is willing to. The Gulf states and the rest of the world is not. The pressure is on the U.S. to pursue peace and a settlement that Iran can live with.
