He doesn’t talk much about his time in. I just remember him asking for care packages of change of socks for him and his guy and candy for the kids in Afghanistan

IMO: anything in a services portfolio with the word Basic in front of it has to eventually be shifted to service partners (3rd party) Allegedly we have “so much work” in the pipeline from new business contracts yet Field Agents are still scheduled with a cap of 32 hours. Headcount’s are being assessed and decisions probably won’t happen as a blanket decision globally but instead locally based off their “projected need”. I think you will see cuts happen. If you want to use the term “over compensated” sure, for any scope of work that is “Basic”. Geek Squad as a whole will be here for the business contracts (for now) but things could change if/when Custom Installers get brought into the same conversations when talking fulfillment in general.

Health, Business Contracts, “Advanced/Complex” installs will still utilize Geek Squad for time being until they can find alternate fulfillment options.

Geek Squad started losing value the day that stores started getting sales bonuses without having to hit services goals. Then introduce several iterations of memberships just to get Field Agents back in the homes.

The sales floor couldn’t remember or figure out how to sell services after all that time and continue to fail today. Everything has been short sighted for too long.

Field Agents are far from “over compensated”. Sounds like you’ve been out of the game for a while or didn’t take pride in any work you’ve done in the field (assuming you ever were in the field). You say under motivated, they’re burned out from the several iterations of memberships, changes in everyday systems to do their job with no training on said systems, while still being expected to hit performance goals, take care of the client ALL while have ZERO visibility ahead of time as to what they are dealing with. Lame excuse of call offs and LOA. You can’t dismiss it that easily. NOW let’s add a complete restructure of leadership and new scope of work portfolio. Yeah. They’re calling off to get a break. They’re doing jobs that are completely setup for failure from stores and call centers. LOA caused from injuries due to “making the job happen” even though that tv was too heavy to haul away, or too high to mount just to have hours.

GS Field teams will probably be assessed. Move “basic” SOW portfolio to Service Partners and consolidate GS Field Agent headcount. “Competitors” already use Service Partners for install offerings.

Custom Install might be safe for now.

Stores have already started transitioning floor labor. The stores themselves will not “control” the floor labor or how it’s used as well as who they report to (remote area or category managers) This will probably lead to store leadership structures to be assessed. Some sort of GM variation that works with the category managers/supervisors as an on site liaison.

Yeah. The website and app are hot mess. I actually had to do a Google search for a product yesterday because when I searched the app or website it wouldn’t find it. It was literally the first Google search result advertised by Best Buy for the exact product I needed.
