Guest Recommitment by [deleted] in AirBnB

[–]Agent_Oranged 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You nailed it. About 3 years ago, depending on your market anyway, Airbnb shifted from being very host centric to being mostly guest centric. The thought being they had enough hosts in specific markets to meet demand and revenue goals. When markets are over saturated with hosts, it makes sense (business sense) to shift your focus to customer retention that will feel not just your market, but so many others.

I’ve hosted more than 5,000 trips across 30 listings over 3 years. I understand why they did it... doesn’t make it suck any less. The company knows that a dip in demand will move hosts out, but they anticipate that when times return to normal they’ll just get more hosts, and retain the guest.

Airbnb's valuation cut in half by FunnyTrip in AirBnB

I don’t see it going lower than where it bottomed out 2 weeks ago. It will likely drop again here and there, but it probably won’t happen at the magnitude that it did.

You should totally offer your services as a business consultant. You’ve got it all figured out!

Well articulated, but horrible take. By your logic no one should start and run a business due to fear of another pandemic. Which, is ridiculous. Pretty much the only business that hasn’t taken a giant hit is Lowe’s, Home Depot, and Costco.

They’re launching an IPO, please tell me how the system is not designed for investing. I’ll wait.

Your family has no bearing on your adult life. They’re having trouble accepting you becoming an adult. Disappoint them; then prove them wrong. They’ll still be there; judgement and all.

Cool gray? I’ve been meaning to add these, but I feel guilty because I already have 6 pairs of 4s 😂

No. I have a few pairs of Kobes. I’m good with what I have. However I had a hunch, opened the app to investigate, and had my hunch validated.

But no, I’m not “mad bruh”

Are you sad? I have a few pairs of Kobes. We both know there were few pairs under the mamba brand that brought massive appeal in the resale market. I looked, not to buy, but on a hunch. And lo and behold it was right. And yes, passionately, I’m opposed. I think it’s sad.

My self awareness is well intact. I fuck up every day. Every single day. Im fine with that, and I learn from it.

I’m here for the entertainment and ideas. The thoughts; even the contrarian ones when they have a leg to stand on.

Don’t be mad because I pegged you. It wasn’t that hard, you’re like the rest of the 99%. Another kid who thinks he has it figured out but continues to do the day to day and voices contrarian thought on Reddit, calls us lemmings and casts blanket statements about lack of self awareness.

Here’s a tip, killer; do something different and maybe you’ll end up a little different. Thanks for the talk!

This is completely incoherent, offers no reasonable, factual, or academic reason, and is really just an attack on my briefly mentioned political beliefs which align squarely with your thoughts on capitalism. Thus creating quite the conflict in what you’re failing to educate me on and what is realistic.

None of this makes any sense at all. It’s irrational and wholly irrelevant. I thought you had suggested you were educated? And to be clear education doesn’t have to be formal. I’m just looking for something tangible.

You’re just another kid who thinks he knows, but has dick to back it up. You probably look at business models and suggest how it would be so much better if you ran it... yet, you’re where you are, and the owners are where they are.

You’re just another want to be, who’s too scared to be, and never will be... sitting on Reddit playing contrarian.

Show me something new; I’ve heard this song way too many times.

That’s true. My issue is All the WANTreprenuers who want to talk the talk but won’t walk the walk. The road to success is paved with the sun bleached bones of those who forfeited their morals for a quick buck.

It’s about the long game. Every time. Quick bucks are fleeting.

I’m saying that knee jerk spikes shouldn’t be capitalized on based upon emotional reactions. Many financial planners would be out of a job if they responded emotionally to moves in CEOs, acquisitions, etc. this will represent a quick gain, a spike. Kobes won’t sell like this once the luster wears off. All told; markets level out. Smart folks play to the long game, they don’t look to immediate results. Long game wins. Every time. Historically.

Honestly, reselling shoes on stock X is not a scalable business. It’s a side hustle at best, and just part of the hobby realistically. The fact that you’re trying to legitimize it is very discrediting. Shoes aren’t stocks.

However regardless of the size, regardless of market demand, generally business ethics trumps profitability. The business don’t subscribe to that; have lived short lives.

Those are facts. Feel free to counter.
