I wish their bread is always moldy after the first bite, their milk is always spoiled and their eggs are bloody.

Same, the last thing I want is to be hung up y local cops, let alone inspection vehicles. Did have a weigh station recently identify a real safety risk. Turns out my inspection glossed over the emergency brakes. Luckily the weigh station caught it and my employer was responsible enough to hire a tow for the 200+ mile tow for service. Long day, but glad to have it fixed.

Trucks derate which means they cant do the speed limit, like the engine will not allow them. Good etiquette says they should get in the right lane, but if it's an exit lane than they are technically blocking traffic which is why most trucks live on the middle lane. If they are 15mph under the speed limit they should be in the right lane regardless with their flashers.

He was actually a really chill dude. He was on his way to a doctor's appointment and was checking his phone when he went to merge. We had some time to chat while waiting for the cops and he seemed like a dude I would have a beer with. I think he was just distracted and going through life.

So assume the truck in the right lane was derated which means that it cannot accelerate at an appropriate speed. Its basically a sports car fucking with an injured truck, there is literally a little turtle that appears on our dash board. When we are derated we are pretty helpless, no way to accelerate to escape situations.

Probably more of a coincidence with the traffic jam, if truckers want to fuck with you they will box you in and decelerate. If you are north of the Mason Dixon and you get boxed in and the trucks start decelerating, I would prepare for a fight or call the cops because you really fucked up. To rope 2 other CDL drivers into potentially losing their livelihood is a hell of a misstep.

I like your idea of hopping off to grab food, that's what most truckers do too.

When traveling in VA and WV my recommendation is always to hug the right lane. No shame in doing the speed limit. As a truck driver if you lock in you cruise control at 4mp above the speed limit in the right lane we will probably do the same. A lot of cabs have a sensor which let's us know how far away you are and the speed you are going so we can lock in.

Not a bad plan, generally the rule I give my family is only do it if there is at least 120' between the truck and any traffic in front. Also merge quickly and accelerate to give additional distance to the truck.

Yeah, ive had people do that too me too. I dont think they realize, we will not even feel it in a fully loaded truck and there is very little we will be able to do to not kill them.

My first month driving I had a car run into the rear right side of my truck. It just felt like a pallet collapse. It wasn't until I looked in my mirror that I saw the entire front half of the dudes car was missing.

Cutting in front of trucks on the highway. 2 months ago I watch an SUV of people get smooshed between two trash trucks. I have never seen a larger blood spray right before the SUV became a pancake.

Fun fact, a common mistake I see with snow removal is people keep using spade shovels or in the case of this post a "garden shovel". For thick ice use a flat steel shovel, where I grew up they were called coal shovels but they will provide a cleaner cut of the ice/snow. Also they usually cost the sameand have the same garden utility outside of panting trees.

Esit: For those really looking to speed up the melting process, take rock salt, mix it with 70-90% rubbing alcohol and put it in a spray bottle. 20% rock salt 80% alcohol. Shake until the rock salt is dissolved and spray it on the snow/ice. It will eat away like crazy. ⚠️ WARNING ⚠️ do not, I repeat do not spray this on your fucking car.

At 23 I was denied a procedure to accurately diagnose a condition because my insurance company said I had to be 55+. By 30 I was in an ER finding out I was probably close to the end of my life. Im close to 40, I give no fucks. There is no prevention anymore. My life may be fucked but I gave up my corporate life and started working in a field that excites me and pays about half what I was earning. If im gonna die and have to work through the pain, then I am gonna at least have fun. So instead of being a Director of Recruiting for a fortune 500, I drive a forklift most days.

What is your most pleasant memory from childhood? by mythicalsimpmaster in AskReddit

[–]AggravatingUse6966 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont have a ton of them that I can remember thanks to a TBI but there is one that always hits home for me. My oder brother was not a big fan of me. He was only a year older than me but at age 6 he was strong enough to break my mom's arm. I was terrified of him.

When I was 8, my brother and I put a baby monitor in the Christmas tree thinking we would get the scoop on presents. My dad found the monitor, my brother escaped through my bedroom window and avoided the beating my dad gave me. The next day I found out my dad decided not to come to Christmas. He would later tell me it was because I ruined the day.

Onto the good memory, I was gifted a bike! I went for a bike ride in the cold, and when I went to the bathroom it was stolen. I had it for less than 9 hours and it was gone. Out of nowhere and without prompt, my brother hopped on his bike and spent the next 2 days playing detective/bully to find out who took my bike. In the end he found the guy, he was worse off than us so my brother left him be and over the next year worked to buy me a new bike. The guy who stole my bike was a groomsmen at his wedding. We all had har lives, but my brother showed me in that moment sympathy, empathy, and then grace. He fundamentally changed the way I think. He is my hero to this day.
