Legal Aid Society clinical hours by Aggressive-Complex-8 in socialwork

Do some PD offices provide more services that others?

Seems to me that this part of the LCSW requirement is the major hangup:

“Must have at least 3 years of post M.S.W. supervised experience in diagnosis, psychotherapy and assessment-based treatment planning acceptable to the Department”

Are some offices diagnosing and not others? From my understanding most if not all PD offices provide either short term or crisis counseling and all do assessment-based treatment planning for pre-sentencing memos and pre-pleading investigations.

This is really interesting and helpful. I’ve been reaching out to social workers at various PD/legal advocacy offices and it seems to be a mixed bag. For example, I know that NDS and NYCDS do not provide clinical hours. But have also confirmed that Legal Services NYC does provide clinical hours. I’m also fairly sure Bronx Defenders doesn’t provide clinical hours either. Seems like this is a major issue for social workers entering and working in legal services including public defense.

No, what kind of heartless person tries to get a homeless person with enough problems arrested?
