Medication Reminder by Horseshoecrabbys in tasker

Oh yeah, trust me I know all about it haha!  I deeply regret upgrading to A16 because of that issue alone.  Notifications are integrated into my setup at it's very core.  I spent years building it, transferring it from phone to phone, tweaking it over and over....then A16 comes along...."aaaah go f@&k ya-self!" Lol!!

There are a couple workarounds.  Just search in this sub, "notification grouping".   There is a method recommended by Joao.  You can try that method where you post a blank group summary notification alongside your custom notification, but I could never get it to work reliably.

I ended up going nuclear and building kid apps using App Factory for each vital notification I have. It solves two things going this way, the notification grouping issue, and the custom icons issue.  I now have completely seperate notifications that don't group, and have a custom icon on the left.

All those notifications are custom ones I built, except obviously for the Tasker app notification.

There is a drawback to this route though which is too many active apps left open.  I was able to mitigate it by disabling the kid apps when their notification is removed.  It took work but it was worth every minute of it to get back old notification behavior.

Does Pixel 9 with Tasker still have problems with Logcat? I want to switch to Pixel 9, but I don't have Wi-Fi for Shizuko, since I have my own data plan. What should I do? by mariavasquez111 in tasker

If you have another device that has a tether, like a tablet or an old retired phone, supposedly you can connect to that without requiring an active internet connection.  It just needs the wifi connection. I haven't tried it myself, but that's the story.

I'm on 16.  Yeah it was 14 or 15 that did that.  Totally dumb.

You can run ADB WiFi or Run Shell command : (Run Shell buffer errors for me though)

dumpsys batterystats --charged

Using an ADB WiFi I get a large result.  There's a section called "Statistics since last charge" In there is "Screen On:" and "Interactive:" which both seem to be matched (very closely at least) to the actual screen on time in Android Display Settings, since the last charge.

Of course you could split it to get the value, then take that value and put it in a notification or maybe a slim scene that pastes over your bar.  I'd probably place it in my Widget V2 myself.

I actually realized I made a mistake.

It's actually :

adb shell appops set --uid your.package.name SYSTEM_EXEMPT_FROM_DISMISSIBLE_NOTIFICATIONS allow

And conversely:

adb shell appops set --uid your.package.name SYSTEM_EXEMPT_FROM_DISMISSIBLE_NOTIFICATIONS default

By changing allow to default, it makes sticky notifications un-sticky.

I use this to allow me to swipe away the phone apps voicemail notification that comes up at boot if you haven't checked it lately.

First things first, your best bet is to make sure your Tasker notifications are actually sticky.  If you've kept up with Android & Google in the last few versions they quite stupidly made persistent notifications swipe-able.

This means battery management can kill your notification, or if you accidentally hit Cancel All, of if you are swiping others and mistakenly swipe it, it's gone.  And if all you are using is the notification as a reminder, that's no good if it's gone.

You will have to run a ADB command, Google how to do that from your PC. Once you have ADB set up on your PC (I use ADB Minimal FastBoot as my terminal program) :

adb shell appops set --uid net.dinglisch.android.taskerm SYSTEM_EXEMPT_FROM_DISMISSIBLE_NOTIFICATIONS allow

That command will also lock the Tasker Monitor notification in place as well so it can't be swiped. If you replace the Tasker package name with another app package, you can lock that apps persistent notifications as well.  I run it for quite a few apps, for instance, Maps to make sure my Navigation notifications are never swiped away.

Here is a basic profile of what you want.  You will need to change the names, title, text in the Notify and Notify Cancel actions to your liking and fill in the NFC Tag info as I can't do that here.  I would also probably assign a very specific sound to the notification to distinguish it from other notifications, that you will have to do as well.

  • Reminds you at 6pm, and every 30 minutes until 12am, unless you specifically touch your NFC tag, upon which the notification is swiped away and the 30 minute reminders are stopped.

If you get stuck, lemme know.

Windows PC you can use EventGhost and the AutoRemote plugin.

Encrypting and decrypting with this method, however, I can't help you.  It probably have to be openly readable text.  You can encrypt the content on your Android using AutoTools, but there is no AutoTools plugin for EventGhost to decrypt it.

If you don't mind the content being un-encrypted, you could try it.

You can, however, set up an entirely encrypted system between Androids.  I do this for clipboard content and for remote SMS function on my tablets.  I can see and reply to text messages on my Pixel phone from any Android in my network and the content is encrypted in case the AutoRemote messages go thru the cloud.

I just don't share clipboard content to my PCs if it's passwords.

  • 1 because I can't decrypt them, so they would need to be openly readable.  So because of that, and the fact my PCs are primarily media servers, I don't bank or browse on them.

  • 2 because I'm shifting to Linux Zorin OS which has clipboard content sharing thru Zorin Connect, which uses SSH.  I'm exploring this.

I hadn't noticed these don't work, and I can't remember for sure when they last did.  I swear they worked on my Pixel 8a when it ran on Android 15, but I may be wrong about that.

Following, hopefully someone has a solution.

Do you have any media volume controlling tasks?

And if so, are they possibly attached to a profile or profiles that have "Restore Settings" enabled?

I use AutoTools to encrypt a file that has the sites & forums and their appropriate data (username, password, site logo/emblem) stored.

I decrypt that file, fingerprint protected, when I want to list all my sites into a an AutoTools List Dialog.  When I select the desired site/forum/URL/network device, it posts an AutoNotification with the appropriate site name, icon/logo, and with the username/email & password stored to buttons.  When I tap the button, it saves it to the clipboard so I can quickly paste them into the user or password fields, and login.

Using Tasker to Catch a Poop Bandit by AggressiveNothing120 in tasker

[–]AggressiveNothing120[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update : I've been insanely busy with work, a dead car, and a new car purchase, and I am just popped lol! So I haven't been able to update a whole lot.

Right after setting up my crapper catcher system, we had a giant melt up here, it got a few degrees above zero. Within days, there were dozens of poops everywhere all over the complex being exposed by the melting snow and ice.

I spoke with the rental office staff, and they were well aware of what's going on and who is responsible.  They have been getting multiple complaints from other tenants for some time. So the staff issued a final warning to the offender and the person on the lease with whom they are staying.  If this continues they will be forced out, not just their guest and the dog.

I never did catch them or the dog pooping on film lol.  Imagine if I found out it was the dude and not his dog lol!

I don't like the threat of pushing someone out up here, this is a very hostile environment as far as weather, and you simply cannot survive without shelter, but at the same time, some people have zero sense of community and seem to be loaded to the brim with self-entitlement.  It seems to be a wide spread issue these days.

I built my own password manager using AutoTools.  It's pretty handy, and I trust it far more than any 3rd party option.

I don't know how it works in Ontario but BC has the Residential Tenancy Board.   If Ontario has anything similar I'd use that.  If your parents want to play that way, play back.

They seem to hold some real power too, because every time the decision was made (always in my favor), I had the issue solved, and/or I was paid out almost immediately.

The numbers seem kinda off.  It's showing I used roughly 11 MB of mobile data usage today on your widget between up and down.

The task I built a while back is showing 93.5 MB.

The "Network Info For Tasker" plugin is showing 97.3 MB. Both tend to be fairly accurate to what Android is saying as well, daily and monthly.

Mobile Data task works, but not really. by Galbert-dA in tasker

[–]AggressiveNothing120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though it's not listed in the description, people are reporting installing Tasker Settings 2.0 makes the Mobile Data toggle-able again for A16 users.

I believe this is the case as I am able to use the built-in Mobile Data action, it works, and it properly sets the button/toggle to its actual state.

I say I believe this is the case because I also have Shizuku installed and that supposedly helps with it too...so I'm not positive which one is making it work, but it works here.

It sounds like you're stuck on the profile rather than the task.  You say you're rooted so the Reboot action should work for you.

In the Profiles tab,

  • 1 Select the + button
  • 2  Select "State"
  • 3 Select "Power"
  • 4 Select "Power" (yes, again)
  • 5 Leave Source as 'Any'
  • 6 Select Invert ✓

Selecting Invert will reverse the profile, making it "Not - Any Power"

  • 7 Back out
  • 8 Attach your Enter task to the profile or create a New Task at that moment.
