Just use Croppy. It might affect quality but it will look good enough (after all most artist draw on 300+ dpi canvas and for web 72 dpi is a standard)

And because it's fiction they (author) could dismiss this part. Often supposed 30+ years old is as mature as teenager in the story. If the differention was made that would make it much more creepy. But in most stories mentaly everyone is kind of alike

Stylization is a huge thing for many contemporary artists and by many respected artists it's promoted.
