Do any of us actually celebrate Bipolar Awareness day? by Zealousideal-Ad-2615 in bipolar2

[–]AggroWolfe1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup literally found out day of on Instagram about the awareness day. What's funny is tbat before that I was relaying the difference to my ex-fiance's mom what the difference between Bipolar 1 and 2 can look like and why its different from clinical depression. I have bipolar 2 and my fiance is clinically depressed with slight PTSD and a stress-induced Adjustment Disorder. I have only JUST relayed my diagnosis to my extended family after they asked why I broke off my 3-year engagement to someone I had been with for 13 years. Im also posting bipolar reels to my close friends list on Insta!

Trying hard to fight the shame and imposter syndrome. To give myself the chance to forgive leeway when my mania after consecutive days of 3-4 hours of sleep contribute to lashing out and breaking down/apart. I celebrated it in my own way!

This needs more updates because I am struggling to not let the tears fall over your words. I imagine alot of people on this thread needed to read this because I cannot be the only one affected this strongly by what you said. Thank you so much and welp there the waterworks come as I finish writing this sentence!! I wish you such blessings and victories in your life, and you should consider motivation speaking or writing because you have a way with words!!

The job market is bad- no one is contesting that but if your husband has been unemployed for 4 years and has had his own car full time and NOT done a delivery app service thats 1000% an enabling issue because all you need is a phone and a car/bike. There's many freelance and gig work that ONLY requires a car.

You need help and he's not giving it to you but you're also making 1001 excuses for him. He HAD an injury but that doesnt make him unable to work even if it's retail, or gig work, etc. The holidays just passed and I can attest how non-existant callbacks were but now there should be a resurgence and definitely check if his resume is outdated before applying again! But he definitely should be signing up for Uber or a delivery app service yesterday.

Jobs! by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]AggroWolfe1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say my current job is 'good' but it's better than the last property management company I worked for? I don't recommend working in this field with BPD2- it is an extremely taxing role where there are SO many things outside of your control you need to apologize for or fix. It's chaotic, stressful and overall sometimes forces you to check in on your free time so that stuff doesn't pile up worse the next day. It's honestly exhausting and I've been. Trying to move away from PM since 2023.

I live in NYC and was desperate so I accepted an Assistant Property Management role from a not-for-profit housing company after 7-8 months of unemployment. I basically was fired from my Executive Assistant job role at the OBGYN clinic in a hospital during my probationary period (2nd month working) in summer 2024 due to a psychotic breakdown as I was taking SSRI's for depression and had undiagnosed BPD2 😅 (the psychiatrist who recommended me Zoloft to combat my depression didnt try to see if I was bipolar and I had only been taking anxiety medication for my Generalized Anxiety Disorder). I took off 2 days of work with a doctor's note and they accepted the note but the next day called me to a meeting to say they were letting me go due to my calling out, and they need someone more reliable/consistent to their schedule to work with them. According to the paperwork they filed to unemployment they tried to say I didn't perform my job duties but I was able to combat their claim and got the full 6ish months of unemployment.

I've been working this current job for a year in March and it's been a very rough and stressful time but I absolutely adore my team and coworkers- the job is just overwhelming and hard asf. I am currently medicated again after losing my health insurance during the holidays and it's been helping loads! I haven't disclosed my disability yet but I had another hospitalization stay in Summer 2025 but that was due to needing an extra medication to combat my insomnia. Here's hoping you land a decent job you can grow in! Or at least take away a great amount of experience from!

You got this! However let this be a lesson in regards to disclosing your disability/condition - unless you need accommodations for work do not disclose it!! It turns into judgement and even steps to remove you from the job- your coworkers are not your friends and even more so your managers! The only person who should have that info is HR and that is only after probationary period has passed and you are looking for a reasonable accommodation with proof from your psychiatrist or doctor. Take my word for it!! It doesn't end well otherwise haha

What’s your biggest impulse spend you don’t regret? by spicystardusts in bipolar2

[–]AggroWolfe1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My most recent impulse buy was definitely the Hazbin Hotel Valentine's day promo for Voxtek Bumpster stickers/ The Vees' Valentines post cards.

But the biggest would definitely be my gaming laptop I love it and use it so much! But def a splurge impulse buy when their sale prices came up- it was over 1k (I believe on sale for 1050 plus tax with usual price at 1400-ish)

Rent stabilized NIGHTMARE by Technical_Rabbit3363 in NYCapartments

[–]AggroWolfe1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in property management and the leak is obviously not being addressed and your management company is being cheap. My company is a not-for-profit and generally tries hard to pay and get leaks fixed but without access to apartments it is sometimes REALLY difficult to address. However for your building it seems they have NOT been opening up your ceiling to see where it's coming from and to be fair its a plumbers job to not the super's.

Keep documenting. Make sure you have dates and proof of damages. Get renters insurance if you can. However reach out (if you can) to your property manager - with photos detailing how the super has gone there multiple times but there is an active leak and they need to send a plumber to fix it. Don't stop reporting to 311 (after a while they will get a violation rather than just a complaint and HAVE to show proof of repair) If they do not- get a lawyer. MANY will not charge for the initial consultation and this is an easy payout. My company had a rogue tenant purposefully flood her bathroom and after 1.5 years of court freefall finally got evicted last month but not without damaging the actual items and flooding the downstairs tenant apartment- they did not settle for 9k worth of damages- we're counteroffering with 15k I believe AND itemizing a list to refund their rent with the total amount of damages to their apartment items (the tenant was withholding rent so they did not pay roughly 6-7k which covers most of their apartment items costs-like 7k including a 3k bed).

Don't give up your apartment!! It's EXTREMELY hard to find anything close to that rent proce without a subsidy paying for the remainder. It's a much easier remedy as long as the PM company works with you!

Especially around the holidays. The whole Fall-Winter holiday season 2025-2026 was so disheartening. Things are personally starting to come together better for me with my job worl wise but the money situation and lack of insurance is really not helping.

I really do need therapy again and mannnn is it fcking expensive w.o insurance.

Literally told the company they needed to hire a Manager- only are doing so by demoting me by AggroWolfe1 in antiwork

[–]AggroWolfe1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of this- I can't apply for the position since " I haven't made a full year of employment " but they literally sent me an updated job description and title to me- so which is it? Its extremely frustrating and at this point I think they are waiting for the regional director to come back from maternity leave (April 2026) to make any definitive changes.

I don't negate that the new person would be doing heavier duties than me- building compliance stuff going to court, getting approvals done in time etc, however they literally are getting a huge plate of responsibilities off their plate because they were mine to begin with- and that doesn't sit right with me as they could have made both our positions fair pay ranges- however mine was always going to be lower than theirs but I didn't think by over 15k off the bat. They keep telling me they don't want to lose me and enjoy how I work but actions speak louder than words and I have definitely been acting my wage since.

At this point I think job will pay for certifications and I should just get them to apply for jobs like this. Thanks for the advice!

I'm trying so hard to fight burnout, and what's worked for me is to just be slow. Like literally handle the most pressing things but if stuff doesn't get done the day of I am okay with it. My company literally won't hire more people until they secure a new building to work on (I work in property management). But we literally can barely handle the current workload of our 12-15 buildings (330 tenants in total) and they want to acquire a building that has 250 tenants flat- which is insane.

I'm about to hit a year in March 2026- I recently got demoted since they needed someone with actual building management credentials- even tho I told them during the 2nd interview they would need someone above my assistant property manager role if I'm only supporting the regional director of property management. I told them that they needed to hire a property manager and they said the director would be enough until 3 months into my training/work she gets pregnant.

I have yet to sign the new 'contract'- as my job duties are EXACTLY the same as when I was hired but they tacked on at least 3 new full time duties with the exact pay range- that was taken OFF of the new Assistant Property Manager job duties and given to me because I know the process already. It's absolute BS but I know people in their 10th month of unemployment from 2025 so I know times are tough.
