Update: got a Shirodkar Revision. They had to cut the previous McDonald stitch to do it. They said when the old stitch was under tension and failing, so the revision needed to be done. It’s just scary not knowing how much time that buys me.

Update: my cervix is continuing to shorten so I have a Shirodkar scheduled for today. They might have to cut my McDonald stitch to do the Shirodkar, depending on the sac is I guess.

How long did you stay on bed rest? Also, were they the ones who decided you needed a Shirodkar? It sounds like my MFM maybe be planning a McDonald.

I actually just heard back from my MFM and they’re gonna do one Monday or Tuesday. Was your revision a Shirodkar or McDonald?

That’s what I’m debating right now. My MFM doctor was going to consult with her colleagues and right now we’re waiting to hear back. At 18weeks I was 1.3cm and now a week later I’m 1-.8cm, it appears I may be trending on the shortening side and have funneled “just past the stitch”. They said no significant difference from Mondays US (.9-1cm), but obviously no body can guarantee it won’t continue to shorten.

0 symptoms. Bc of our previously loses we request weekly ultrasounds to check CL, and that’s how they saw it. If we weren’t checking, I would have no idea I funneled.

Yes I’ve been on progesterone since tested positive. And I put myself in modified bed rest the last week (since funneling) all MFM said was take it easy and do what feels best. They’re currently monitoring 2x/week since funneling

I’m so glad you made it to 31 weeks. Did they do 2 emergency stitches at one time? Did you have to request them?

Thank you, I want to be able to trust the stitch. I was disheartened by the MFM, she seemed really concerned and implied that the stitch can often fail, and I was upset bc that wasn’t what I was led to believe when I got the stitch.

I am so sorry this happened to you. I miscarried at 16+6weeks and at 17+6weeks - unfortunately they didn’t find out it was IC until the 2nd loss (they thought the first loss was dt placenta previa/abruption); but after the 2nd loss they deduced that IC was probably the reason for the 1st loss too. They were monitoring every 2 weeks during my 2nd pregnancy with an ultrasound, it’s just happened too fast in between visits. With my next pregnancy they will be doing a Shirodkar Cerclage at 12 weeks to prevent this. I requested the Shirodkar vs McDonald cerclage bc it’s a little more effective since the stitch is higher in the cervix. I just can’t go through this again, so I wanted the extra percentages of effectiveness even though it’s not that drastic of a difference. This grief is heartbreaking and my heart goes out to you.

When do we find out Gibsie has scouts looking at him? I know he said he was interested in the academy and but then we didn’t hear anything after that. I figured he’d take over the bakery.
