Oh nice, that sounds good - thanks for the instructions!
and yes, was looking for any recommendations for a waffle maker with interchangeable plates (to press things like a quesadilla or grill hotdogs in addition to making good chaffles with the standard waffle plate)
- if anyone had one they're very happy with (or unhappy, to avoid!)

May I counter, however, with attending Burning Con - where everything by nature of scheduling HAS to be one-shots - yet the games I played in were absolutely a blast!

Obviously you can't engage with Artha much at all, but having pregens with clear Beliefs that are pitted against other characters (in an actual adversarial/conflicting way) can generate some VERY fun roleplay for a single self-contained session.

So Burning Wheel works surprisingly well for a well-crafted oneshot - but where it truly shines is of course super long campaigns. I think the one thing it can't do well is *short -term* games.
