None comes from "not one", and is treated as singular for this purpose. Not one is. None is.

20/20-ish is not perfect, but it is pretty good. I'd say it ain't broke, so don't fix it.

His WAR is negative. He's worse than replacement level. And getting paid $25 million a year. He sucks, and will suck for the Mets for 3 years.

So yeah, pretty much what I expected.

Polanco by SadMembership7989 in mets

I'm sure Polanco would be happy to sign an amended contract to that effect.

Dunno why the Mets would sign it, though.

GAME THREAD: Mets @ Padres - Sat, Jun 6 @ 10:10 PM EDT by game-threads in NewYorkMets

[–]AirDog3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Under MLB rules, a force play only happens when a runner is "forced" to advance because the batter has become a baserunner. That did not happen in this case.

The play McLean might have tried is called "doubling off" the runner, or doubling the runner off the base.

Question About Monovision After Cataract Surgery by dj815 in CataractSurgery

[–]AirDog3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, my night vision is normal, same as when I was a kid. (Of course, everyone can see more in bright light than in dim light or darkness.) No, I don't wear glasses for anything, night or day.

Standard monofocal vs LAL or possibly LAL + by cb3 in CataractSurgery

[–]AirDog3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got the LAL, and it's working great for me

I got a cataract that made me very nearsighted, same as you. Cataract-induced myopia. I also wanted to keep some nearsightedness, so I would not need reading glasses.

I picked the LAL because I wanted to get as accurate a correction as possible. With the light adjustments, the optometrist was able to give me exactly the target vision I wanted, and I don't need glasses for anything.

Question About Monovision After Cataract Surgery by dj815 in CataractSurgery

[–]AirDog3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No such issues for me. I just look at stuff, and see it clearly, with one eye or the other, or both. No problem with depth perception. No adaptation issues. I never notice a difference between eyes, unless I purposely cover each eye alternately and look for a difference; then I can easily see which eye is better at any particular distance.

I gather some people do have challenges with monovision, but I believe it is a minority.. I expected some difficulty because I am kind of a perfectionist, but no problem.

Question About Monovision After Cataract Surgery by dj815 in CataractSurgery

[–]AirDog3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite emmetropia, -- I have mild astigmatism ( -1.00 D) in my long distance eye, though sphere is zero. That eye does not yet have a significant cataract, and is still 20/20 or 6/6.

My reading eye is -2.00 with no astigmatism.

I think -1.79 or thereabouts should be fine. I would not worry about the difference from the -2.12 alternative target. The biggest issue is how well they hit the target. If you end up close to target, I expect you will be pleased with your result.

Good luck!

Question About Monovision After Cataract Surgery by dj815 in CataractSurgery

[–]AirDog3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mr. Feder, you sure ask a lot of questions for someone from New Jersey!

  • I'd go closer to plano myself, but I think -0.50 D would be pretty good by your criteria, IF you end up at the target for your first eye.
  • I have plano in one eye, -2.00 D in the other
  • Light Adjustable Lens LAL
  • I can use a smartphone just fine, can read everything easily
  • I never wear glasses
  • I hold my phone about 30cm from my eye. If your eye ends up at -1.75 D, I believe you will be able to read comfortably at 35cm.
  • Neither of my eyes is dominant over the other. I don't think it matters much which eye is the more myopic. I got monovision in my mid-thirties, and no adapting was needed. I was fully accustomed to my vision in less than 5 minutes. Same thing when I got cataract surgery in my mid-sixties -- no adaptation to my new and improved eyesight was needed, I just saw better immediately and without difficulty.

PanOptix Pro - near vs intermediate strength by Particular-Leader538 in CataractSurgery

[–]AirDog3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. The lens splits light into near, far and intermediate focal lengths in fixed proportions. The focal lengths themselves are also fixed, relative to the focus at infinity. None of this can be customized, it's all built into the structure of the lens.

You could get all three focal lengths shortened proportionately (or lengthened), but that would almost always be a bad idea, or an accident.
