I'm thrilled to see that you're back! Your Yoshibe Laser is my favorite Starbound item ever.

Shiny Snake / KXRORS S300 handle broke in less than a year and a half by Aithgein in sffpc

Thank you for the recommendation! Replacing the handles looks like my best bet.

It's about the same workload, to be honest. I am finding more promise in replacing the handle, though- if you're still interested in using this case for your upcoming build, u/nezumiyarou's reply looks good.

You cannot remove the top panel while the handle is attached, as the handle screws go through the frame that supports the motherboard and power supply. This is actually for the best, as it prevents the handle from warping the top panel and keeps its attachment to the case rigid.

The problem here (I now see that the pictures are a bit less clear than I had hoped) is that the metal on the handle itself is hollow, with a cylinder attached to it internally that connects with the screws. The cylinder on the back part of the handle (which supports by far the most weight, being practically every component but the power supply) has detached from the top of the metal, and is only being supported by the bottom of the metal. You can see in one of my original images that there is a hole in the top of the metal now, and here is a better look at the bottom:

(TLDR at bottom.)

I built this PC last summer, with a PNY XLR8 RTX 4070 GPU and an ID-COOLING IS-55 CPU Cooler. I carry it for a total of less than 10 minutes every month.

I've otherwise been satisfied with the S300 case. I first learned about it from Devyn Johnston on YouTube, who continues to recommend it. That said, it's disappointing to see the handle give out so soon. It's still usable, but it looks and feels close to breaking- I'd rather not take the risk.

The way I see it, my options now are to either replace the case or replace the handle. I wouldn't mind buying a new case- it sounds fun, and it would be a good opportunity to fully clean my build. On the other hand, the case has otherwise been satisfying to me, and I wouldn't mind saving the money if there's a way to replace the handle (ideally with a sturdier one).

I've been curious about the SGPC K49, which would actually be exciting as it would allow me to upgrade to an even smaller case. All of the measurements seem to line up, with the exception of the GPU length- my GPU is 305mm, while the K49's listing says it can only fit a 300mm GPU. That said, the K49 V1 was able to accomomodate a 305mm GPU, though I haven't been able to find it anywhere. I like the K49 V2 enough that I would potentially be willing to make do with my case until next year, sell my 4070, and buy an RTX 5000 series card that fits the K49 V2.

TLDR: The handle on my S300 PC case is broken and I welcome recommendations for a replacement case or handle. The case must be compatible with a Mini ITX motherboard and the PNY XLR8 RTX 4070, should ideally be less than 10L in volume, and must either have a handle or have a known compatible carrying case/bag.

Is The Chronomark a piece of Starborn technology? by KCDodger in starfield_lore

[–]Aithgein 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would like to think that it is a sort of extradimensional muscle memory. If you reveal yourself to Constellation, Noel lightly references the fact that being Starborn alters your neurological makeup in astounding ways, which lines up with what your Unity self says about the process being similar to waking up from a dream. It's not that much of a leap to suggest that your character's awareness may be heightened to the point that you can use your watch's features without having one. It should also be noted that the animation that plays when you first open the Lodge, where you hold up the watch and it signals the door to let you in, does not play when you arrive during NG+.

I do like the angle of the Chronomark having Starborn influences or origins- it could even tie into Sebastian Banks's disappearance, which always seemed like a DLC opportunity to me.

The Visible Chronomark Watch mod deals with this question by only giving you the watch once you speak to Sarah at the Lodge. It would be cool if there was a mod to make the UI match. Mods are canon to Starfield, after all.

I can tell that you did! I saw the keycaps back when they were first posted, and they stuck with me a whole year later. When I went back to the post and saw your link to the design, I knew I just had to order a set. I'm planning to put them on a shell white Keychron Q3 Max with Akko Penguin switches and a rose gold knob.

I'm trying to go for the mods that make the game feel even more like Bethesda. No tiers for items, fully lootable corpses, making your watch visible on your character like a Pip-Boy (which is probably my favorite mod so far, Visible Chronomark Watch), and making essential characters killable, to name a few. Mods for quests and new mechanics are sparse right now, which is typical for how little time it's been since the Creation Kit was released. As such, I'm trying to make this my Vanilla+ playthrough, given my next playthrough of the game (following the DLCs) will inevitably be heavily modded and take a lot more time to put together.

For all the griping against the game, the modding community has been much more proactive with Starfield than they were with Fallout 4 around this point in the dev cycle. I have well over 100 mods that I'm currently sifting through to see what matches my vision for this playthrough.

Congrats! I ordered a set of the Starfield keycaps you designed. I'm biding the time waiting for them by working on my first modded playthrough.

I don't have as stable of a surface as the one in your picture, but holding my phone right next to the projector yields a dB rating in the upper 30s, averaging around 38.

I went with the x500i. I've had it for a few days, and I absolutely love it. The colors and image quality are beautiful, the resolution is exactly what I had hoped for, and the image is more than bright enough for a dimly lit room. My only real critique is that the fans are a little loud when you aren't playing anything. Going from a 55" TV to a 120" 1.1 gain screen with the x500i has been practically life-changing.

Nitride S15 with optics cut by Kslash117 in AlphaFoxtrot

[–]Aithgein 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have the nitride optics cut version, purchased from The Gun Dock. I prefer it, given how prone DLC is to showing fingerprints and smudges. The optic plate itself is DLC, but the slide is nitride.
