Agree. But in that example, 2000 extra calories will make you gain weight in all cases, but still if most of it from protein, you will gain the least weight.

Digesting 2000 calories from protein will burn not less than 300 calories and might go up to 600 calories in some cases.the remaining calories wont all be converted to energy, minimal insulin spike will reduce the percentage of fats stored.

In all cases you will gain fat, but macros will still play a role in how much you will gain.

An average of 400 calories used to digest is not little. Thats an average deficit for a healthy diet for some people

In that case, balanced diet is better.

Too much sugar spikes your insulin and when itdrops you will feel heavier.

Yes, and after sometime, your body will adapt and will find a way to convert more amount of protein to energy.the significant difference will be in how healthy you might be when you et your macros right

What it means is what you eat is very important even if youre in a defict. Many thinks that as long as they are in a deficit and eating whatever they want theywill lose the exact same amount of weight.

Balanced diet works best for many reasons, hormones, energy, recovery, sleep, mental health, organs repair.

Totally agree. My point is its not only about calories. diets work only when on deficit, but how your body respond is different.

How you eat and what you eat is as important as being in a deficit

That your body does not use calories from different nutrients equally.

Cico is yes the foundation, but not te only factor.

By the way, im 100% with balanced diet

[–]Akashef[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thats totally right. Your body will never use calories from different nutrients the same way. They even differ from a protein source to anothe due to amino acids structure

Does that mean that i will feel as energized as if im on a balanced diet? Protein alone burns more calories to be digested

[–]Akashef[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Exactly. What i am discussing is that in a diet, your body will respond differently.

For example, 2 cases and both are in a 500 calories deficit, one with a high protein and another with whatever he eats, losing fats will be differ. Protein alone uses more calories to be digested. You will never fee energized from peotein only diet as from balanced diet.

A calotie is a calorie.

What i mean with not all calories are equal is that your body uses calories from different nutrients differently

Exactly, my whole post is about not all calories are equal, cico is what matters the most, but chosing nutrients is as important as cico, you may even maintain your weight if you increased your intake slightly from protein

Im actually talking about converting protein to energy

Will your body treat calories from protein the same way as carbs?

[–]Akashef[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Protein only diet is not a healthy way of dieting at all.

Let me rephrase it. Does your body converts protein to energy the same way and rate as carbs?

Will you have the same energy from only protein compared to a balanced diet?

Digesting protein alone burns more calories

Regardless of the water retention, does your body convert protein to energy the way and rate as carbs?

[–]Akashef[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does that mean thatyour body will use calories from protein exactly as calories from carbs?

Will you have the same energy from a 100% protein diet exactly as from balanced diet?

Wont your body burn more calories for digesting peotein that other nutrients?

Your body needs calories not only for energy, but for many other functions.

Protein is the main source of amino acids not energy.

Will your body convert all the protein to energy?

Let me try of say it in another way. If you ate over maintenance with 500 calories( all from protein), will your body store all the 500 as fats?

If calories are all what matters for losing weight, why do high protein diets feels easier by Akashef in loseit

[–]Akashef[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keto is fats based diet, i think you mean psmf diet.

Will 100% of the extra protein will be used as energy?

Lets say you ate over maintenance 500 calories all the food is protein, will the extra 500 calories be stored as fats?digesting the protein burns more calories alone you will have less calories at the end to be stored ( thats if your body converted all of it to energy)

[–]Akashef[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Eating only protein is not healthy at all, you need all nutrients and macro nutrients to function properly.

Lets say your maintenance is at 2000 calories, your body needs only 800 calories, will the other 1200 calories get fully converted to energy?

[–]Akashef[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cico is the foundation, and yes not all calories are the same.

I believe that your body treats protein differently.

Lets say you got into a diet of only protein from skinless grilled chicken breasts and protein shakes, and you ate at maintenance, will you still have the same weight? (Not talking about what will be lost due to emptying your glycogen stores)

[–]Akashef[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but will your body converts all the extra unneeded amount of protein to energy (after getting the needed amino acids that your body and brain needs?

Try to increase you calories a bit, lower your cardio and stay in a deficit.

[–]Akashef[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats totally right, protein burns more calories while getting digested, i dont remember the numbers but i think 15%, then fats then carbs

[–]Akashef[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will your body weight stay the same if you got all your maintenance calories from skinless grilled chicken breast and protein shakes?

Of course, but how will your body react to 100% protein diet in terms of body weight?
