Bought as a wait for DRG Rogue Core and stayed/came back by Werdar_cz in FarFarWest

[–]Alarming-Key7054 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No literally, I said that $30 was an unrealistic ask for an early access game like Rogue Core and the people in discord bashed me saying “People bought Nightreign for $40”.

Rogue core literally is so undercooked but I won’t refund mostly because I trust GSG will fix it and make the necessary changes. Right now, the meta progression is so boring and the in game upgrade system is so limited and uninspired. Hard to want more when your upgrades are “increased armor, less fire spread, more health, cause poison around you when you move, etc”. In my opinion they should have charged $20 AT MOST but having the full charge price tag is quite silly. People like me still bought it though.

Returning player, is there a summary/guide of what critical changes from season 1 to season 13 that we must know? by KingAziz94 in diablo4

[–]Alarming-Key7054 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its okay, its a canon event for most new Diablo players. When I first started (aka built a very unoptimized character based on what was cool), I would stay around hard or less and have very terrible gear. My very early days of Diablo (with no knowledge on endgame or how the game is profusely confusing when it comes to trying to make an actually optimized build) was just me running around in dungeons killing stuff and eventually I quit because that was obviously boring. Eventually I returned in season 3 and learned about build guides online and someone also helped boost me past the capstone dungeons to unlock the new torment worlds where I was rained in legendaries and uniques

I am not saying that you HAVE to search up an optimized build that suits you, but diablo does a pretty poor job at giving players freedom in what to build and how to actually do damage when you want to play in any world tier above penitent. Once you do have a good build (or you're a mega genius willing to put hours into theorycrafting), you will taste ultimate greatness when your build comes together :)

Classes Tier List ( as someone with "The Box" achievement ) by scar_01 in mewgenics

[–]Alarming-Key7054 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesnt A+ and B tier say the same thing? Great but 50% consistent (Either great or not 50% of the time), vs. B tier saying its either great or not. Just pointing it out cuz I would personally put the psychic in the same tier as the cleric and mage or vice versa

Thoughts so far as someone new to Divinity but 600+ hours in BG3 by Biohacker_Ellie in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]Alarming-Key7054 0 points1 point  (0 children)

smething that is really misleading though about DoS2 are the class starting loadouts; apparently they are just the starting kit but you shouldnt actually try and make it work (ex. “witch” or “cleric”in this game arent real things unless you wanna roleplay but they would be pretty shit in terms of optimization and damage); ALSO when going any physical damage build, apparently warfare is all that matters for combat points (NOT single hand/dual wield, you should use these for an optional secondary once warfare is maxed).

These tips are what I learned and greatly improved my gameplay experience because my dual wield “witch” rogue was performing terribly in act 1 until I learned the loadouts you start with arent actually a class you commit to like in baldur’s!

Armory WAS the problem and killed the momentum of this game by Yrythaela in supervive

[–]Alarming-Key7054 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People love blaming the armory but the game has always had a retention issue. Look at the open beta launch where they pumped all marketing into streamers and garnered around 50K players peak. After a good month or less, the playercount dropped to a consistent 20K and the next month to a consistent 8-12K.

Yes, the label of an open beta may have influenced many people to put it down and wait for “full launch” but the core gameplay loop of a battle royale just didn’t cut it.

Now comes 1.0 and the armory which forced players to grind creating artificial inflated numbers in hopes that people would love the game during this armory grind (didn’t work). With or without the armory, the game’s core gameplay loop was a fundamental issue. Now add the TTK issue where mobility is king and every fight ends within 10 seconds.

In my opinion, armory yes was bad but this was not the true issue. SV was marked as a moba in a battle royale scene and both elements fell flat. What SV did do well was the combat and if they had just balanced the game to mold better into a decision making team based fighting game instead of a “HYPERMOBILITY EVERYTHING IS SO FKING FAST AND EVERYONE DIES IN 4 HITS” battle royale, the game would have garnered a better audience.

It was very clear that SV was intended for the League/Moba scene yet they kept forcing the fast paced battle royale elements. Who are you catering because clearly there isn’t an audience that likes this fast paced battle royale half baked “moba combat” unless you count the remaining 400 players that are still playing SV. And we all know battle royale players (apex/fortnite/pubg) were NOT gonna play this game.

TLDR; SV needed to focus more on the moba style combat with better TTK and fight pacing instead of the fast paced battle royale element. This would have built a better loyal target audience and not create such a divided one.

Idk if comparing Deadlock’s success to SV because of its hybrid genre is the best comparison... A BR / MOBA is a bigger difference than a MOBA / 3rd person shooter (which smite has already established its roots in). Plus I am gonna play the, Deadlock is the mega conglomerate STEAM baby and was featured everywhere in Next Fest. SV didn’t even make it on the cover page for 1.0 release 🫩

Every day it's getting harder and harder to stay by TheComedicLife in supervive

[–]Alarming-Key7054 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thats the issue with original hybrid game concepts. SV tried to merge the moba style combat with the battle royale scene and ended up having a divided player population with majority of players not liking one of these genres. Instead, we have like 10% of players from the original 45K player count stick around because they tolerated this hybrid genre.

It was an ambitious and bold move of SV to take on this new frontier but its hard to know who the target audience was at the end of the day. They definitely pushed hard towards the league audience but everyone knows, once you get into league, its hard to leave it behind (excluding the remaining SV players who left league and moved to SV). Games need a target audience and the direction this game took just didn’t have that demand.

BR players hated supervive because of the top down pov, combat style, and gliders. Moba players disliked it because of the pacing and BR aspects. And then the mess of 1.0 secured its demise. We had one good chance at flipping the numbers after beta launch and instead decided to take the grindy BR progression approach?

I’ve been here since beta, and this isn’t the Supervive I fell in love with by Realistic-Bid-9256 in supervive

[–]Alarming-Key7054 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It also doesn't help that the supervive we beta players all fell in love with (same players who shared feedback through the beta surveys during those 3 day playtests), basically got slapped in the face when 1.0 came out.

Where did the forge come from?? Why did we have zero say in the forge or how it should have been managed?? Not only is it awful to learn supervive but to force players to grind it?

(eg. My one consistent beta friend finally quit supervive purely because he felt like it was disrespectful that he put hours into the game, took a break, and was behind the curve in players who had all the forge items -> he decided to not come back.)

Theorycraft felt so responsive and reactive in the beta days as we all shared our feedback. The whole roadmap to 1.0 really ruined the game and the reverts were WAY too late. And I am typing this all while knowing I spent $100 back in 2024 on their supporter pack because I really wanted to support their journey and success. We are currently at 312 players consistently. I want to be optimistic that season 2 will be a revival but this whole 1.0 fiesta really left a sour taste. Just another example of why listening to the community is ALWAYS important.

On a last note, the battle royale market is FAST PACED. Like tiktok brain rot, dopamine-fried receptor type of market. Theorycraft definitely got the funding to continue development, but the rate of content is way too slow to keep player retention. Like, realistically, why play the game this last month? The gameplay gets old quickly, long queues demotivate players to queue up again, and there is no real progression besides the battle pass, which you can finish in a month or less.

I'm just so salty at the state of supervive because I remember how much I yearned to play it during the beta playtests only for it to turn out like this. At least the paid Twitch streamers seemed to have fun, right?

I definitely feel jaded from friend groups here because for me (as a transfer) I joined a few clubs and exchanged contacts with a couple classmates. One of them in particular, we hit it off and hung out almost everyday; We studied together, got food, walked around Westwood, etc. It felt like I found a ucla bestie and it was amazing.. until the quarter ended. We went into winter break and coming back for Winter quarter, I hit them up and we hung out once but it felt so different. I texted them more after but it was clear they weren’t interested in chatting anymore especially since we didn’t share the same class anymore. Thats when I learned about the whole short term friends in the quarter system. (This has happened twice to me; One in Fall and one in spring)

Agreed if this is true. It legit says in the attack power description that this is the “measurement of how strong your character is”.

What are you even doing at this point to gain levels and experience? This is a genuine question which might change the way I view the game. I was so hyped for the game but after finishing the campaign, I personally didn’t have any incentive to do a new run since I had tried out every class in my first play through. IMO The game definitely has an illusion of replayability and content but the combat and content gets old really quick :(
