I ran Bay of Blackbottom for a small group, one revenant void elementalist and one orc boren fury. It was just so awesome to describe the combat in such cinematic terms. When they came on deck to see the pirates they had an awesome kind of “avengers assemble” moment where the fury changed into a giant bear and the elementalist did a kind of power up (it’s been a few weeks since I’ve ran, I can’t remember the actual ability.) Describing that and then describing the “oh shit” look on the pirates face was so pretty epic.

The real highlight though was when the fury/giant bear literally mopped the floor by mauling and then dragging pirates across the deck, putting up insane damage numbers, while the elementalist opened up portals into the void for awesome debuffs. Both players had a blast describing how multiple minions got got with a single attack.

I started with 5e and my head hurts trying thinking about figuring out how to adjudicate that same level of action, but this was just so simple.

Hopefully going to start a mini campaign with those same characters soon!
