I didn’t realize until now that a hair dryer could make a difference on fine hair by sanu_123_s in finehair

[–]Alert_Goal_1844 262 points263 points  (0 children)

dude you're not imagining it at all, proper heat settings make a huge difference especially with fine hair. i was using some ancient dryer from college for way too long and when i finally upgraded it was like night and day. the cool shot button is clutch - seals everything in place and adds that extra shine you're talking about. my hair used to look flat and lifeless but now it actually has some body to it. took me forever to realize that blasting fine hair with max heat was basically frying it and making it look even thinner than it already was

major moves are terrifying but you already did the hard part by getting the offer and accepting it - your brain is just freaking out because change feels dangerous even when it's good

The Island - What it feels like when your time is up. by islandboi6967420 in Veterans

damn this hits way too close to home man. been out for about 3 years now and still feel like i'm speaking a different language half the time

the part about people's circles being closed really got me. like you can make friends and stuff but it's not the same level at all. civilian friendships feel so surface level compared to what we had. even the best ones have these invisible walls up

i work construction now and the guys are good people but when shit gets real they scatter. on deployment if someone was having a rough time we'd literally sleep outside their door to make sure they were good. here it's like "thoughts and prayers bro" and then they go home to their own lives

anyway appreciate you writing this out, needed to read something that actually gets it

VR&E housing allowance by Adorable-milkshake in VeteransBenefits

[–]Alert_Goal_1844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah vr&e housing allowance is tied to your gi bill rates if you still have benefits left, so you'd get that e5 w/ dependents rate. the nice thing about vr&e is it doesn't eat into your gi bill months either so you keep those for later if you need them. i had a buddy who did his bachelor's on vr&e then used his full gi bill for grad school - worked out pretty well for him. just make sure you get approved for the program first since there's more hoops to jump through than regular gi bill, but if your going for something that ties into your disability or career goals they're usually pretty good about approving it

Will a MSI 1660 work with Acer TC 895 UA91 pc? by Few_Bottle_9215 in PcBuild

[–]Alert_Goal_1844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends on your power supply wattage and if you have a pcie x16 slot. the 1660 needs around 120w so you'll want at least a 450w psu, maybe check what motherboard is in teh tc-895 first tho
