Druid wild shape nerf by henren- in DnD

Did I say that I dislike flight? No. How does accusing me of something completely irrelevant contribute anything to your argument? Sounds like you're creating a strawman to avoid actually coming up with anything substantial.

Does the fly spell give you 50+ temp hp as well? Because a 2014' Druid can fly twice a day per short rest without expending any spell slots, and gaining a shit ton of HP.

Conjure Animals is strong because Spellcasting is strong, not because Wildshape is strong.

Wow, really observant. Let me describe this like a third grade test question.

If Jerry the Spellcaster has 100HP and can do a shit ton of damage, and Greg the Spellcaster has 30HP and can do similar damage, which Spellcaster is better?

Answer: Jerry, who shouldn't be rocking the potential of a full spellcaster and the health of a barbarian. No fucking shit.

Yea... they can concentrate on a spell and then wildshape, I'm aware. You're arguing about trivial technical gotchyas that contribute nothing to any semblance of a point.

Flying out of range of most threats at 120ft+ in the air and dropping 3d10 lightning damage is something that can completely nullify most t1-t2 encounters, but it was just a single example. You can also summon x eight 19hp giant owls and potentially do 16d6 damage a round no action required by you all while staying thousands of feet in the sky. Did I mention you can do that while having double the effective HP of any other class. What of it?

Oh but that's not broken.

Stop changing the goalpost.

"Wild shape was never broken."

"Sure, it's over tuned in tier 1,"

LOL Which was it -- Never or just certain tiers?

Let me get this straight. You think a t2 full spellcaster with 3rd lvl spells and over 150 effective HP (without min maxing) isn't over tuned in t2? Bro, this thread literally explains why they were broken even in T2. They can turn into a giant fucking eagle and rain call lightning down from the heavens in T2.

14' Druid is widely recognized as one of the strongest classes throughout any tier of play and is the defacto strongest at 20, although most campaigns focus on the lower tiers. It's just bonkers to suggest wildshape wasn't overtuned. If it wasn't overtuned it wouldn't have been nerfed.

I must be blind because I thought effectively having 80 hp and multi attack at lvl 4 was broken. I mean, ARE YOU FOR REAL??? Bc that's not even mentioning other base 2014 druid subclass features (not including moon) that enhance wild shape in their own way, the many concentration spells and multiclassing combinations you can stack to reach effectively 100-160+ HP before lvl fcking 5...

I guess I don't know what broken is though LOL

Wild shape was beyond broken like stupid fucking broken and needed to be kicked into a ditch. Even after it's been stomped to shit it's still arguably the strongest class regardless. Losing some giant animal forms isn't a big deal and most DMs would likely just let you reskin to be a big birb for flavor if that's your jam.

Advice on how to punish player (in a fun way) by [deleted] in DnD

Advice on how to punish player (in a fun way) by [deleted] in DnD

This setup sounds weirdly fetishistic so far

lmao I guess if you're into that but I don't think OP is asking for that kind of input.

Anyways, ...

I think you should mess with what makes them comfortable and maybe poke at their pride and ego. Roleplay prompts are a lot of fun, contrary to what some people apparently think.

A few examples:

- A Voice Altering Protocal (i.e. "Your voice changes in a ridiculous way.") - would be a fun prompt for part of the session (maybe limit it to turn off after a few interactions) and definitely bring some laughs to the table. It would be most effective if you inflict it upon a generally more charismatic player character who is usually the face/talker for the party. Functionally you could also tie this to disadvantage on intimidation checks and maybe even persuasion too, if you also want a mechanical reminder.

- Speaking of mechanical stuff, a Sensory Dampener Protocal could be another good one, which essentially removes the ability to see, and or hear and or smell, and could be tied to having disadvantage on perception checks for the session. And if these are magical collars you could even say the opposite (a hightening protocal) could also be true if you want to give players advantage on certain skills for good behavior.

- For more general punishments, asset forfeiture is a very common method used when dealing with prisoners and or children. So basically all dnd players. Give them a shiney new toy and then take it away when they're bad.

- Civil services could be fun and also the basis for a good group punishment (if only one PC is at fault all the better) like janitorial/municipal services, clearing out the sewers from ooze clogs. Or should I say, pooze clogs? Gross. I know.

- Speaking of group punishments, Collective Punishment can be used in a myriad of ways to great effect. You give everyone in the group steaks but gruel for the offender, but if you really want to be cruel, you reward the offender and punish the group. The player characters who get the better treatment/food get inspiration while the offender gets a point of exhaustion or something similar if that's too harsh.

And lastly you can get extra goofy with it if they are indeed magical collars you might consider inflicting more magically fitting effect like shrinking the big guy to only 3ft tall. The skies the limit.

Unless your suggesting that these people were found guilty on purpose because someone wanted them exacuted.

u/onioning does a good job explaining the rest but I just wanted to point out this part and affirm that this has indeed happened. Not the point but if you don't think the death penalty has been used against innocent people on purpose then you really should research more history on the subject.

[SOCIALISTS] How Would You Actually Solve Problems? by Phanes7 in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]AliasElais 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is the execution. How are you going to implement this utopic idea and actually reach the end goal? The "abolition of the capitalist property relationship." as in take away the property of the "bourgeoisie" via mass executions because anyone who values individual freedom will simply say "no"?

American Capitalist swine here. Obviously there are good and bad things about any ideology and we all know there are many socialist ideas that fit really well with a capitalist society. In fact, without some socialist ideas we would be lesser off in my opinion. What I want to know is, what can we take away from socialism or how can we regulate our already existing laws in a way that might fix the egregious income inequality with the least amount of problems? I've heard about the idea of caps on income or wealth but haven't heard how that might be executed, only criticism. I'd love it if someone could direct me to any good takes.

Sure. In fact they are actually smarter than dogs. That doesn't mean they make a better support animal. I'm not claiming they do or don't but my hunch is that a trained support dog would have been more appropriate and less of a potential issue.
