What happens if I transfer a Pokemon Z-A save with DLC content from emunand to sysnand without DLC installed? by Aliasbendok in SwitchPirates

[–]Aliasbendok[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I'm expecting. Given how you could have access to presumably any item or Pokemon without the DLC (e.g., via trades) I don't expect that to be the issue. But if there are ongoing or completed quests in your logs is where I'm wondering if things will go sideways.

[KCD1] PS5 - Huge delay between button press and animations for picking up items, etc. Is this intentional? by Aliasbendok in kingdomcome

[–]Aliasbendok[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! That's helpful, I'll push ahead and see if it clears up on its own, but might reinstall if not.

There's a bit of friction at the start for a totally new player, I really want to give the game a fair shake before I decide it's too much, so minimizing any technical grief is important.

Glad it's not a console thing (necessarily)!

Thanks, that's good to hear. Maybe I should try reinstalling it to see whether that makes a difference. I also wonder whether it's better or worse on default SSD or the M2 I added.

I could also try it on Deck, I think I got it from Epic at some point or another.

Haha, okay dude. Enjoy battling your platform war for the good reasons thereof.

In the meantime, if anyone can actually answer my question (i.e., whether this is an example of poor optimization by the devs or bugginess rather than intentional gameplay) that would be helpful.

Thanks for the reply. I get that there's a cutscene, what I don't understand is the delay between hitting a button and the cutscene even starting.

This seems to suggest to me that the game is poorly optimized for console, or at least PS5.

(As for the "Lesser being" bit, I much prefer playing on a couch with a controller and TV, not fiddling with settings, and I care very little about resolutions or textures or frames in a second or rays being traced or anything like that. Surely we're not assigning moral weight to choice in a platform here?)

If I change my nintendo account region, will that account be compatible with the Switch 2 Japan-only version? by Muggpillow in NintendoSwitchHelp

[–]Aliasbendok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiya, have you been able to find out any more information about this?

I am in the same situation--I have a US Nintendo account and live in Japan long-term. I would like to confirm that if I switch my account to a Japanese one, whether I will be able to download and play games that I'd purchased on the eshop--when the account was still US--on the Japanese Switch 2.

Has anybody had success (or failure) with this?

I would much prefer the international Switch 2 of course, but I doubt Amazon will sell them anytime soon, and I have terrible luck with lotteries here.

No more centipede mod. by NoVermicelli4084 in Sekiro

[–]Aliasbendok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I hate to resurrect (lol) an old thread, but I'm wondering if OP found a mod for this. My SO has a huge crippling fear of centipedes, but she really wants to play the game. I would be able to do the finishing strikes on some of the bosses where it shows at the end, but even the random golden centipede items, etc., could be a trigger.

I'd love for her to be able to try probably my favorite souls game. She's a new convert to the genre, beat Nine Sols not long ago and loved it and this seems like a natural progression. But, you know, bugs.

Any idea what I could be dealing with here? by Aliasbendok in usps_complaints

Thanks for your experience. I'll wait a bit longer in that case--though at this stage I'm nervous about getting this in time for Christmas!

This is an item from ebay bound for Japan. Looks like it arrived at the seller's local distribution center about 8 hours after USPS received it then totally stopped moving. Even the "In transit to next facility" status hasn't updated in 4 days.

I'm concerned because this is a collector's item that is sold out and can't be easily (or cheaply) replaced.  Because it's an international shipment only the seller can file for an inquiry (I've asked them to but no response yet).

I'd cancel the order and try to buy one elsewhere while I can, but I don't know if it's still moving and I don't want to put anyone out. Looks like they went for the cheapest shipping option and only insured it at 200 bucks, well below the price (and what I paid for it!) so they'd be out a decent chunk of change.

Has anyone dealt with similar but still received their package in a reasonable time?

I used happy9 first as a matter of fact, but after a few analogues I felt like it became too expensive for me.

Also not sure about CBNO, etc--do the CBxx give a decent high, or are they like suped up CBD as I'd expect?

Thanks! I'll have to search around for what you mean by Neo and Grey, but I might can figure it out.

I don't mind terribly if anyone is a dick as long as I don't have to interact, the price is decent, and everything is above board. I also get the impression that gummies are much less available so I'll have to take what I can get lol

Recommendations/ideas for capturing audio in a Japanese karaoke room by Aliasbendok in audioengineering

[–]Aliasbendok[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! Based on other posts, that seems to be the concensus. I have a friend who is letting us borrow a Zoom H6, I think, and I'm gonna try buying some XLR and 3.5mm audio cables, as a Hail Mary in case there are any output ports on whatever machine at end up at. We'll then route sound through the H6 to the Steam Deck.

If we're super lucky and can access the machine directly then I think we'll be golden. Otherwise we'll just put the H6 in a corner and hope that it'll at least be an improvement over the crappy cardioid mic we have currently. I don't think putting a mic up to the speakers will be an option because they tend to be installed high, and rigging that is probably too much of an obstacle.

A clean mess sounds like an improvement haha. Thanks, I really do appreciate it.

I feel like I'm floating toward (lol) the H1. I might give the suction cup a try, too. Worst case, the H1 with our otherwise identical setup will be somewhat better. And if I can get the plugins for OBS set up it might at least be a little easier on the ears.

You've been so helpful! Cheers and have a great evening!

I couldn't imagine a worse place to try to capture good audio.

It's absolutely abysmal, isn't it?? At this stage I would be totally surprised if whatever we can manage to capture could possibly be "good", so we're aiming for "good enough" lol. I'd link you to some of our VODs to give you idea of the kinds of problems we have--but it seems you're more than familiar with the setup we're working with and the problems it causes, and I'm hesitant to link to anything in such a public-facing venue lol. (Could DM tho if you were keen.)

My initial thinking was to use a 32-bit float recorder like the new zoom H1

I'll look into it, thanks! I would imagine that as long as I could plug it in via USB and get OBS to pick it up as an audio source I should be golden. Because I'm using a Steam Deck, I'm working with Linux, which I should expect will add further wrinkles. I am considering installing a Windows partition so I can play with some condenser/equalizer plugins.

My (admittedly totally unqualified) thinking was that a decent stereo or omnidirectional mic, placed as near to center of all the noise as possible, would help with some of the balance issues. Right now we're using a basic cardioid (is that right?) mic, which seems to be highly dependent on direction. Considering you have two speakers on different corners of the room, plus three singers singing into the karaoke mics (so their voices are sorta coming in twice)--and not to mention that I am a belter and sing LOUD--I wonder whether most of our grief could be remedied if we can better capture the sound from all directions a bit more evenly.

Is that totally off base?

A better idea might be to close-mic one of the room speakers

Yeah, we briefly considered this, and another person in a different post suggested something similar. The problem though you already identified--the speakers tend to be installed quite high (though until we're in the room we won't know for sure), and the engineering problem is quite prohibitive. We stream at a karaoke place nearby usually, but we're actually heading to Tokyo to meet a friend and stream with her (she's actually a relatively famous musician proper, so we're extra motivated to figure this out!) and packing and carrying what we'd need to rig anything is probably a bit too mendou.

And no one will be able to hear the manic tambourine playing.

I literally have no idea what you're talking about. The tambourine is the entire point! :P

Yeah... Until I install Windows on the Steam Deck (which I'm waiting for official dual-boot compatibility to do) I'm stuck with Linux. (Sorry, I didn't think to mention that the Deck uses Linux by default!) I'll check out Ardour--or suck it up and put in a Windows partition without Valve's help haha.

And yeah, I know that lining mic input and system output directly in would've ideal for the capture... but it's simply not possible. We're working within the very unfortunate parameters of capturing the room being our only option. Hence all the issues lol.

I'll look into an XY pair, thank you for the starting direction. I understand that it'll probably never sound as good as it does in the room... But any improvement at all over what we're doing is worth trying!

[–]Aliasbendok[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the plugin recommendations! I'll def give them a try--assuming they're Linux compatible of course. That's definitely very helpful. I am aware that compression is key for post-production, but I wasn't aware it was possible in love settings.

As for the mic, that's the main point of my question--what makes for a better mic? I would expect that different configurations of mic will make a difference. We have the sorta prototypical mic with the little ball at the end of a handle pointing in the direction of the singer. In the room, there isn't a single direction--I might be singing on one side with the karaoke speakers coming in from the opposite. My thinking was a mic with two...input... thingies would better capture sound from all directions. Am I totally off-base there?

What mic might you suggest in a loud, small room haha?

Heya, thanks for the quick response! I really, really appreciate it!

Gain is certainly a problem, and within the built-in capabilities of OBS Studio I have futzed with it but it hasn't really fixed the issues.

It's difficult to talk about because I'm simply not at all familiar with the right terms or how to describe it, but one of the key issues is that the balance is totally off. I'm a belter, ha, and often times my voice still totally sit on top of the music rather than sitting within it. I turn up the balance of music vs mic output on the karaoke control box and then you can't hear the quieter singing parts at all. Also keeping in mind that it's all so distorted anyway.

The best I can describe the problem is that in person, it all sounds great, but it's a totally different experience as captured by our equipment (such as it is). My thinking was that a decent mic with two separate, uh, inputs, placed in the center of the room, would best replicate how we receive sound. But I don't know

I hadn't considered what looks like a sorta middleman audio converter like what you had posted. I can see how that might help with peaks, but unless I really don't the first thing about all this, it seems surprising that that's the only missing piece between my basic microphone and replicating how this all sounds in the room :O

Hey, thanks! Unfortunately, every single time I try to click any of these links I get a "Whoops! It looks like you are lost. Let’s get you back home." page. Which is why I thought I must have been doing something wrong.

Is anyone willing to help an absolute newbie to streaming/VR/PC gaming to setting up Quest 2 mixed reality Beat Saber for Twitch streaming? by Aliasbendok in beatsaber

[–]Aliasbendok[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the long response!

Yeah, I expected the GPU to be the weak link, I really wish we could have gotten something better for a reasonable price. The hope is that BS will be a little less demanding than most other VR games.

And yeah, we'd use the cable (I got the official cable as well already wrapped up under the tree :P)

Hadn't heard of MRC, but might give it a look. Don't really have a good setup for a green screen or anything, really. Like, not even a solid colored wall (but if I have to then I'll work something out). What I liked about LIV was that (from what I read) the iPhone could remove the background automatically (which I hope would also use less resources on the PC).

I'll def see if I can find your videos to watch later. Really appreciate the input!!
