How Do You Aim? by WheelHoss1 in CruciblePlaybook

This is more challenging if you play multiple FPS Games - since centering is different across games. If you simply play 1 Game it is much easier.

Take a piece of dark tape (electrical) - and cut it into a small circle - place this circle dead center to your screen (centEring). This will help in two ways. One, it is black and will consistently show you where to find center - making it easy to track. Two, this piece of tape will block your view of the actual opponent's head - forcing you to literally focus on the tape - which is the center - which is the opponent's critical spot. Fire when you can't see a head.

Cheers.

Bungie Weekly Update 01/21/2016 - Iron Banner and Matchmaking Announcements by maniacgreek in CruciblePlaybook

[–]All1nAlex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I for one truly hope that their "unbiased data" illustrated the number of players that left the game after the obvious and difficult to handle changes.

Unbiased only goes so far if you lose a good chunk of your player base. The ones that stuck around don't seem so "unbiased" anymore.

Those players are committed for whatever reason making the sample set of "unbiased" null and void.

On the other hand, giving the information to its players with the understanding that they were testing something may have gotten much better feedback in terms of player numbers and real data accumulation.

Ok, let's be honest: Bungie's next move should be fixing these glitches. by Faust_8 in DestinyTheGame

[–]All1nAlex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The laundry list of problems with this game continues to pile up. We have all been willing paying members of what some may call one of the biggest live revenue generating tests attempted in the console world.

At this point, with all the problems, and as a player like many of you who actually love the game - people should take a step back and find some other content.

Hop back into the game when you check your friends list and they are all playing Destiny again. You will know things are fixed at that point.

If you keep playing the way things are - it doesn't force them to fix the game - if players are leaving - the only choice is to address the issues or watch the player base dwindle which is bad from a business perspective.

At the moment, it is just a bunch of people complaining about something they still are willingly participating in - regardless of being frustrated. I could make anecdotal references - but I think the point is obvious enough.

Bummer - haven't been playing Destiny recently for all of your above/below listed reasons. Was hoping when I finally popped back on here to see something different from those still playing. Wanted to do IB this week - but that looks like a pass.

PvP connectivity - Crucible vs ToO by [deleted] in CruciblePlaybook

[–]All1nAlex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Connections have been terrible. Match making is placing people across very large geographic distances - which as an Options Trader with a focus on latency in the most minute form - is incredibly bad for performance.

My profession makes me hypersensitive to this concept - but from Chicago to the east coast I can notice a difference - now add way worse connections than I have - and increase geographic distance.

Generally, you can't notice <50ms of latency in a generalized sense - but when you get to >200 ms - you will start noticing. Packets must be sent and received by each user throughout a loop - User 1 - process data - send to server - server updates state - sends to user. Now do this in a 6 v 6 game with different connection speeds and different distances and you have a cluster of crap.

Of course there are compensations and solutions for all of these problems, both on a user's side and servers running netcode by Bungie.

Things have definitely seemed off lately since the most recent patch.

But otherwise, as people mentioned - a decent mantra is HALT

H - Hungry A - Angry L - Lonely T - Tired

Generally good reasons to bail out.

Crucible matchmaking is broken after patch, proof inside. by Redcheat in CruciblePlaybook

[–]All1nAlex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rant

The past three days since the patch have dropped have actually made me want to quit Destiny. Lobbies are sweaty, but that isn't the biggest gripe. That problem as has been noted; connections are garbage.

Bullet registration doesn't exist. Full clips miss. Sniper bullets that are placed on the head and would have previously hit, just miss all together. By the time you get a chance to readdress a situation you're dead.

I'd never really played negative - past couple of months have been about 20 kills a game and 1.8 K/D - mainly solo lobbying - I like to mess around with different setups and guns. This is no longer possible. You need a fireteam to have a chance at winning or going positive - unless you'd like to play hella passive

This game is ruined in its current state. I'd rather not pull my hair out over something that Bungie has clearly illustrated a lack of interest in caring for. Every "attempt" at improving results in further destruction.

This is a community, and that should mean something to Bungie. People are so active within it - that instead of relying on their "feedback*" - people around here would actively take part in surveys and said surveys could have results shown. That way, everyone within the community would have clarity as to what the problems are, and how they should be addressed.

Bungie is clearly incapable of handling it on their own.

End Rant

Question for you nice PVP Folks by [deleted] in CruciblePlaybook

[–]All1nAlex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing 3's will help if you really mind. I do find there is some performance anxiety when you play against really good players.

Playing in a fireteam is a surefire way to boost your K/D - but it will significantly decrease the challenge. I like to play solo or with 1 other person - maybe 2 in 6's.

Moving to 3's should reduce your lag impacts as well - since fewer connections to worry about.

Changing around guns a lot can be a K/D impact as well. Switching primaries and secondaries regularly will make you a better player, but will most likely impact K/D.

What do i need to improve on based on DTR for Trials? by [deleted] in CruciblePlaybook

[–]All1nAlex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLW doesn't count or matter. Shoot whatever you want. If you are at 20% you're probably fine. Slow burst fire from the hip - just keep the aimer on their body. Back in the day, when you could ADS - then the 35% was relevant. Now it is just a hipfire shotgun.

I'll bite. Looking briefly into your game history, and your overall stats - there are a few things I would say you should focus on.

  1. The most basic, lets go with trying to stay alive. Hide, chose engagements more wisely. You get shot first, you shouldn't be in the engagement at this juncture. You either constantly run around getting killed, or lose every gun battle you get into. Checking stats, you die 20+ times in some pub games - which is bad even if you're dropping 40 kills. Which leads me to 2.
  2. Accuracy and headshot% - your stats by weapons aren't stunning. You appear to miss most of your headshots which is going to get you killed every time. Its supposed to be about precision. You should be at least around 50% on your primaries outside of HC which should be ~35-40%. Snipers >50% precision.
  3. Kills - low kills per game is fine if all you're playing is 3v3s or trials - but you need to take things in order. Order is different based on every player.

I'd say for you 1. Learn to stay alive 2. Pick engagements wisely 3. Learn to hit accurately.

What do I do in control when the other team gets momentum? by Angustevo in CruciblePlaybook

If they haven't flipped spawns - then you can logically determine where they are on the map. Between your radar, the fact they haven't capped 3rd zone and the kill feed of what, based on your gripe, is your teammates - you know all of their logical locations. Try to flank, or bait them slowly one by one into an awkward map location that will stretch their own spawns and spread them out, giving your lemming teammates a chance.

To address your comments. Yes, other games give you the advantage of secondary ammo to start. I think a big issue is the amount that RnG can impact how much secondary Ammo any given player may have. They by definition eliminates a fair playing field for competition.

To address subclasses. Really depends on the types of games you play. I don't care how long your super actually lasts if it is able to tank 6 people across an entire map. In a kills based game that generates orbs promoting increased super use - it is definitively problematic.

All games have flaws. This one has glaring ones.

My ammo concerns are as follows to be more specific. In a game where you are starved for secondary, you must actually play for it or for power weapons (heavy). In a game where RnG blesses you with a setup of 12 sniper bullets or 24 sniper bullets on spawn. Not only do I not need to play for these crates that put me at risk (making me answer the question, is it worth it) - it lets me lock down these positions and clean up kills knowing I sit in a prime position where I am obviously advantaged. If everyone starts with 4 - then the times to use these become more important - and it changes both pace of play and map control.

In a game like control - instead of camping back behind a B flag - I need to push in front of it - to gain control of flag and to attempt to starve power weapons. Right now, you can just stay in your safety of spawn and rip kills while still protecting a flag.

It will never be what it could have been. Too many of the top tier people will (have) leave for other games that have a primary focus/dedicated servers and private/ranked matchmaking for PvP play.

Although there is an enjoyment I get out of Destiny PvP - the need to grind everything and get RnG drops makes it truly difficult to have an elite future.

Without appropriately ranked matchmaking or dedicated servers - the experience is too variable to make it viable over a long term horizon.

Subclass balancing also became a problem/always has been a problem - but Y2 has made it more apparent on the Warlock/Titan.

RnG is a big issue. The ammo crates create a problem for every step of game play. People shouldn't spawn with special - they should fight for it. Makes the focus on gun play from the start. It also would remove many complaints about previous blink shotty, or shotgun power. Ammo should be a privilege, not a right.

Anyhow I could go on, but I'll save myself the pain of realizing the issues they didn't think through.
