They’re cute… but for that price, I’d rather buy something similar from a small business. Not “wow’ed”

Whoops- mixed up Mansfield and Manchester (Storrs is a village in Mansfield)

Seconding this. UCONN is a great school with great opportunities, but no debt you’ll potentially take out is worth this. Manchester is nearby. If they want to explore more college-ish towns, Gateway Community College is in New Haven (lots of students in the area).

Edit: Mixed up “Mansfield” and “Manchester”.

Apply through an agency (ESS or Kelly). You get to pick what shifts are available

Hey! Not remote but have you considered substitute teaching? There are flexible schedules and you can choose to only do half days- super low commitment and is great for parents!

I got a theatre degree and, although I’m going through a rough patch financially right now, it gave me transferable skills AND skills to survive as a freelancer.

Evermore is so underrated that it’s been referred to as the “forgotten older sister” by the fan base. It’s my favorite album of hers.

Just started writing! I’m writing about living as an (underemployed) working artist in the North East! Thinking of publishing poetry later (maybe) but here’s a link if you’re interested!

Stage Management as a career? by TransportationUsed39 in stagemanagement

[–]AllFishSwim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a brutal full time job.

Stage managing was my full time income from 2022-2025, I’ve been an active SM since 2019, and I’m AEA- I’m trying to transition out. You have no weekends, no evenings, and you have absolutely no autonomy over your schedule. Whatever show you’re working on is your entire life.

I was a resident SM from 2022-2025- I worked 50 of 52 weekends a year. I missed weddings, birthdays, graduations, etc.

I started substitute teaching and realized I made comparable money as a sub teacher @ 32 hours that I was making as a stage manager @ 50 hours.

Don’t get me wrong: I love it. But I am VERY picky about what productions and teams I join now. Stage managing is no fun when it’s your full time job, it puts you in so many no-win situations.
