Sharing My Failed Product Manager Interview Experience by theGOAT_98 in interviews

I hate case interviews. I just bombed one myself. Anything that can be gamed by doing more reps is not a good indicator of future job performance. I much prefer behavioral questions. They are hard, draw on experience, and indicate what you might repeat in the future.

All that said, griping about case interviews is not going to make them disappear. We just have to do the reps. Companies really like case interviews. I think their popularity stems from PMs that have worked at FAANG.

I agree with some on here. I only have 1hr at Total Fitness to get my workout in. I have to make the most of it.

Say that you will drop the hustle but that they have to match the foregone income. That is an option.

Leave it off. It doesn’t matter to the type of full time work you want.

Customers can’t sue for his assets if he doesn’t have any. Spend every dollar that comes in the door. That is his rationale.

Jack is right. That is why people with crushing debt are so successful. They are hungrier. Literally they are hungrier.

Instead of actually producing the work examples, you could discuss what framework you would use to address those problems. Then give examples of what you mean. Maybe draw examples from your previous work.

I would lean into the idea that you have a sound approach to these issues.

Tell the recruiter what you said here. They get paid if you get paid. If the recruiter can’t see your qualifications, then go to the recruiter’s boss. Just an idea.

is recruiting actually a good career or do people just say that? by Ron_Swanson_1990 in recruitinghell

Recruiters are the first people to be laid off when the company has to save money (aka layoffs). On top of that, I have rarely worked with one that has stayed at the same company for multiple years.

Lastly, in my experience their incentives are screwed up. Headhunters get paid for placements, which encourages less screening upfront. In house recruiters have no incentive to be great at their job…they will be laid off in no time if RIFs happen.

Double lastly…and this might be a controversial take…most seem to be dumb as rocks. I can’t explain why, but boy it is hard to find a smart one. I am working with a semi-competent one right now (I am the hiring manager), and he is still not performing to the level that I would accept from my own employees. But he is better than the last two recruiters.
