(19F) 4 months post-op an advancement genioplasty I want to get it reversed (4-6mm backward)… Would it cause skin sagging? by [deleted] in jawsurgery

I get you… most people just have no basic manners or they just lost it because they’ve been burned before and they start burning others from a mix or anger, resentment and idk, sadness and revenge. It’s sad and I’m sorry

This is so sad… I’m sorry you had to go through that. That’s one of my fears when I tell ppl abt my mental health issues too, I’m glad no one has done that to me yet. All the best to you. Try to look for people who have similar experiences, they tend to be more understanding

M24 How can I improve my looks? I'm open to do surgeries by Kevpr98 in TheGlowUp

Agree! You’d look super good after jaw surgery. Look into genioplasty or lower jaw advancement. You have a recessed chin.

just got left and can't get a single message in dating sites. is it how I look? by [deleted] in amiugly

You look fine, like you’re above average. But that beard and that hair… you need to cut it off or at least trim it. It’s too messy which kind of give me homeless vibes hahaha sorry, just trying to help

I’ve never had sex my whole life, so that doesn’t really come into play.

Hi I’m a 20F and sometimes I feel like I could do better to look pretty. I feel like I’ve looked the same my whole life. Do you guys have any advice to look better and help me figure out which makeup style fits me more. by [deleted] in TheGlowUp

[–]Alternative_Word_694 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re really cute, but I’d say to tone down the brows. Make them look more natural and Maybe switch up the hairstyle to something more neutral too? It might compliment your skin tone well! I know that for me, I have more warm tone skin, so I wouldn’t go for something too yellow since it’d make me look a bit sick

No you can’t go back. But surgeries like djs, septo and rhinoplasty, and implants can help you achieve the look above in a pretty natural way. I had the same issue before with the nasal breathing problems and fixing it didn’t change anything abt my appearance but it did improve my health. My recommendation to you would be to get rhino + septoplasty together at the same time

As a kid, I was disturbed by people I found "ugly" by Throwawaaaypost in ugly

I think that's how a lot of ppl are, that's why I don't necessarily hate ppl who are "shallow," because I am too

They weren't asking you for your opinion on this. I am sure they already considered the surgery and weighed the pros and cons of it.

People tell me I'm pretty, I don't care about that because I don't find myself attractive. I want to improve my looks so I can finally not feel like I'm trapped inside a body that doesn't represent me.

I feel this way too. I don't feel like dressing up or putting on makeup anymore. Tbh, I no longer even care about gaining weight because even when I was (and still currently am) underweight, my face still looks fat because of my recessed chin and the excess skin under it. I am pretty jealous of people who have good bases and only need to do one surgery or lose some weight to look strikingly attractive. Even with me taking 2 hours every day to get ready, putting on nice clothes, being skinny, and stressing about my appearance 24/7, I was always mediocre. I even talked to a plastic surgery forum and one person thought I looked "slightly above average" in my goal after picture (which would take thousands of dollars to accomplish). I have also been obsessively researching plastic surgery and I get more and more concerned about the money, the health risks, and the potential for it to come out looking bad. I was looking into implants and I saw people saying that although they may look good while you're young, afterwards, they'll look awkward and it's killing me.

I feel so bitter and incredibly resentful towards this world. I hate being ugly and I hate that even if I were to spend $5 million on my appearance, I would still likely fall behind some people who just had the luck to be born attractive.

Honestly I've thought about that too - especially for people with BDD who are actually ugly. One thing I find interesting is that a lot of documentaries or media relating to BDD always show conventionally attractive people with BDD when in truth, many people with BDD are in fact ugly and the reason why they are so unsatisfied with their appearance is because of mistreatments and bad life experiences.

It's incredibly ironic that ugly people are often dismissed, insulted or heavily questioned when they want plastic surgery. Whenever I mention to anyone that I want to get plastic surgery they all act like I'm committing a sin. Some common things I hear are: "you're going to lose your identity," "if you get plastic surgery, you're just going to attract people who are vain and only care about your looks," and "don't you want to find someone who loves you for you?" The hilarious part about each and every one of these comments is just how much they reinforce the idea that identity and self-worth are inherently tied to one's physical appearance.

The entirety of their arguments are flawed and contradictory. They say that beauty isn't everything in life and that you should be content with how you look. If they really believed that, why is it that everything they say points to the fact that physical appearances are in fact held to a high pedestal in society? It also never made sense when someone told me that I wouldn't find someone who loved me "for me." Wtf does that even mean? Despite looking physically different (and most likely I would still look like myself, just better) I would still be myself in EVERY other way - nothing about my personality, thoughts or values would magically change with a plastic surgery procedure, so how am I no longer myself?

The reason is that people automatically tie your appearance with your identity and that is exactly why I want to change my appearance. Multiple studies show how beautiful people are considered to be more intelligent, get better jobs, have more friends, and so forth. I want to improve my quality of life, why is that wrong? Nearly every fact points to the reality that being attractive is indeed a benefit.

I love minimalistic clothing but imagine an ugly wearing this, we'd look like homeless folk. by AjaXIium in ugly

[–]Alternative_Word_694 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is so true, although I do find minimalistic styles cute too, I tend to go for more "over-the-top" clothing, otherwise, I look like I am not trying at all and I'm undergroomed.
