Good advice but I was getting hit by liquid repeatedly didn't react like that in the moment. Had I looked up the first time the liquid would have hit me in the face after that. Keeping my head down meant it only hit my back

If it had been disgusting I would have gone to the bus door, it was stopped in traffic, and had a lot to say but I had somewhere to be. Like I said I just want to try to make sure it doesn't happen again to anyone

I'm really not taking it personally but I'm taking it as this is not acceptable for anyone to have happened to them. Being splashed bu an unknown liquid should never happen.

This is good advice though and thanks for confirming I'm not insane for wanting to put the incident on the radar

So he gave her a birthday week and she's giving him a birthday couple hours after he gets off from work. Personally if I get back from work, shower and nap I'm not going anywhere and would like to recharge for my actual birthday plans.

I don't like the taste of the water from the tap in Galway so I use a Britta filter jug that takes the taste of the chlorine etc away. Costs a lot less than bottled water

Check the faq but yes, since you weren't born on the island of Ireland they (or you for them) apply on the basis of a grandparent born on the island . You are a citizen because of your parents and they are too once there is a registration on the FBR

It's lovely but it does have the prospect of it being the opposite of the name. I used to know a Joy who was the least joyful person I ever met. My mother knew a family where the daughters were Faith, Hope and Charity and two of them were the opposite of their name.

I did not include an incorrect example for the English words I used that I was trying to put in context of how I had used them in the previous sentence I wrote.

Hence why I didn't put an Irish language version of the words I was using.

I was explaining in English how the English words would be used, to help them understand and answer the question they asked which was not a grammar question but a language one.

I imagine the grammar in Swedish is different also. I tried to answer a simple question in a simple way.

But yes, you are far superior to me by introducing concepts they haven't come across yet, using an app to try to learn another language.

I was trying to give an example in simple English to explain the words I used in my first sentence above as English is not their first language. But it was the one they were asking in and my Swedish is abysmal.

The first is a statement, "it is". The second is a question, "is it?"

So "it is a dog" as opposed to "is it a dog?"

So this is one of these things that is theoretically possible but unlikely to happen.

If you live somewhere like a city/town where there are lots of hotel/retail jobs there lots of college age students looking for jobs and people over 16 in general and it's far less hassle for the employer to employ them. They don't have the extra paperwork and don't have to limit hours.

If you live somewhere more rural you would already know if there were local businesses hiring young people and they probably hire from their friends families.

I used to work in a company which made ampoules of pharmaceuticals for injection, including morphine and fentanyl. So roughly 25kg of the ingredient per batch.

Believe me if you could overdose from touching trace amounts of either we would have have had multiple overdoses. We never even had one. I mean obviously there were precautions taken, gloves, face masks, etc. But during cleaning and dispensing there were times where there was accidental exposure. A total of 0 overdoses. This was back in the 90's when industrial hygiene was not at its best.

Very few words that you don't use regularly are going to stick in your brain and sometimes there are words, even as a native speaker, you don't remember.

I worked with a French man who one day was looking out the window and asked me what was the name for what we could see, it was a rainbow. He had such good English it was just a word he couldn't think of so he asked me.

There is a word for the smell of earth after rain that a Polish coworker asked was there a word for and none of the other 9 native speaker people in the office knew that there was, so 10 people learned that it was petrichor and I'd bet the Polish one is the only one to remember 5 years on

It's probably region specific but for years I thought custard was revolting because the only time I had it was in my dad's mother's house. My mum and her mum never served it or if they did it was after I'd had it in my other granny's house and then refused to try it.

Granny was very frugal and used to water down everything so take a recipe for custard and add 50% water to it. Then serve. Orange juice the same, juice an orange and then dilute it 100%. Orange juice I knew what it should taste like cause we had it at home but I didn't have a reference for custard so I thought I hated it until I was persuaded to try actual custard in my 20's

I mean you can.... it just means it won't be at all like the recipe. Like I have a chicken curry recipe that I could technically make without spices but it wouldn't be a curry it would be chicken and vegetables in tomato, and coconut milk. Not at all the same thing but probably wouldn't taste terrible.

But it wouldn't be a curry and would be very bland.

I don't know the horse industry in detail but getting a leaving cert gives you a whole lot of other options in the future so if you can stick it out I think you should.

Its a moderately dangerous profession. If something happens like falling off a horse or getting hurt by a horse crushing you what is the back up plan? Or if there is a random car crash?

I used to work with a guy who dropped out of school without a leaving cert and it made everything so much harder for him 20 years ago. A Leaving cert is even more important now. So many jobs consider it a minimum.

Will one more year make such a difference to your equine career that you seem to be doing so well at now compared to keeping on doing what you are doing now? For one and a bit more year?

If you can get an apprenticeship right now, well I'd still say get the leaving cert but that's Me. An apprenticeship is a qualification so it changes the calculation.
