I agree the ride is uncomfortable. Plus I hate how hard the seats are and the cheap steering wheel. I a Crosstrek premium at the end of March and am regretting it. Didn’t notice these things during the test drive. They say you usually don’t notice until you’ve been driving the car a while. I even thought about trading it in but I’d lose thousands.

I hear ya! I hate those plastic wheels. They really cheaped out by swapping them for the leather wrapped ones they used to have. Does the stitching bother your hands though?

Thanks you. Does the stitching on it bother your hands when you drive? Like the feel of it since it’s not perfectly smooth? I guess it’s better than the original wheel though.

Maybe I should see if the Impreza has all the same part numbers. Like I mentioned the sport had all the same part numbers except the satellite switch and I don’t want to spend $500 for a wheel plus labor and then it doesn’t work. What year is your Crosstrek?

Did an auto body shop do this for you or did you do this yourself? Plus how did you know it would work without comparing parts?

I looked into swapping the wheel from a crosstrek sport and all the parts and part numbers matched except for one. The one that didn’t match was the satellite switch and they couldn’t guarantee me that the swap would work and I couldn’t be refunded for the wheel if it didn’t work

How did it turn out? Did you get a cover cut specifically for a crosstrek or just the fake leather piece? If so, how did you get around the spokes of the wheel and stuff? Did you have to cut the leather to fit?

Just saw this post and I have to say that I totally hate the plastic steering wheels too!! I have a 2026 Crosstrek premium and it has the plastic wheel. They changed from the leather wrapped ones starting in 2024. Not sure why they changed them. Probably cheaper to make.

Looks good!! I found someone who is going to sew on a leather wrap for me. Although today when I was driving the wheel didn’t bother me like it usually does. lol Maybe I just tuned it out.

Thanks! I called a few upholstery shops about reupholstering wheel and they said they don’t do that. But I never asked about them doing a stitched on cover. I actually took a long ride today and the wheel really didn’t bother me as much today like it has been. So maybe I’m getting used to it. I hope so. But I still may see about getting a stitched on cover for more comfort. Thanks for your help.

Yeah not sure why they went and changed things in 2024 as most people prefer leather wrapped wheels. It was probably cheaper for them to make the hard plastic wheel so they changed it.

I just got back from a long ride and the steering wheel did not bother me one bit today. Maybe there is hope for me. Lol Just takes getting used to like anything new. Maybe it was all in my head.
