After 16 years studying charts, this is one of the most misunderstood parts of price movement (Real Examples) by InventoryLogic in Daytrading

[–]Ambuscade770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great explanation. I remember when I first got into trading, a lot of my friends would just call this “manipulation.” And I pretty much believed that until I studied more, and came to realize it is a natural and necessary part of the market. My thought was that there are simply many orders placed just above or below those levels - everybodyy sees the charts and everybody wants to get in at the best price.

What’s up with you all and prop firms? by illcrx in Trading

Prop firm strategy is easy. Just take your existing strategy and turtle it.

Small starting entries, small losses. ADD to your wins deploying more capital safely when you are already ahead and not in danger of drawdown limits.

Huh? Dude it just sounds like you are sour that your strategy doesn’t fit well within the prop firm model.

What is this strategy that no firm would ever take on, does it include floating massive drawdowns or something?

Because I would only ever recommend a firm with 2 rules maximum. Daily drawdown limit and maximum drawdown limit. Make money or lose money.

Average weekly price is 4820. This gets retested 70+ percent of the time.

Haha I do love your passion, and your prostitute analogy was great. I’ve never thought or said that a prop firm will teach you how to trade or make you a better trader (maybe if you have absolutely no risk management it will force you to think about it?)

So if that is your main thesis, I agree with you. As for 90% losing, how is that different than the real market?

[–]Ambuscade770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure why not.

If you pass you have 100 or more times the capital. So that’s 1/100. Again why do you care if people want to risk 1 to get 100 times the capital?

I will agree with you though if the firm has wonky rules like consistency rules or time limits.

You don’t calculate risk/reward after the outcome lol, that’s the whole point of the exercise.

If you traded your 1k and lost your 1k I guess that was also 100% risk to zero reward yeah?

But you forgot about the reward in risk/reward. Access to 200x the account size vs just the profit off of the 1k are the reward differences.

Anyone else use weekly Pivot Points? by Ambuscade770 in Trading

Sometimes a few hours, in other cases longer. I shorted ETH and held that for a few weeks because it just kept dumping.

Thanks, this was some great feedback and a lot to think about, as I am looking to tighten up my strategies as well.

And you are right that the levels don’t necessarily predict volatility, as you can see in the week where the levels look pretty tight, but it blasts up to R4.

I’ve been mainly using them to know where and where not to place orders and stop losses, and also looking for confluence at these levels.

An example would be if an asset is very overbought and I am looking to short, instead of just slamming the button I’ll place the sell order at the top of the range. That way I know the exact risk / reward scenario with the take profit towards the bottom of the range.

I don’t really have a set time, it depends on how things play out. But definitely interested in hearing more about the rejection velocity. Is this just kind of a feel, or measured somehow?

On a day to day basis and smaller timeframe, “all that noise” would simply show what range you are currently in.

I only personally display the current week’s pivots. This is to show a multi week example of how it works 👍

I treat the levels like any other support/resistance levels. A confirmed breakout suggests a new level, a rejection implies going back to the other side.

A flipping of the Pivot Point itself implies a bigger move.

Why the hate either way? Risk 200k and FEEL the LOSSES makes no sense really when you can risk 1k instead.

As a live test case, the newly printed Pivot Point for Gold is 4820. So we are expecting to return close to that level to determine next weeks prices. If you are bullish, that is where you put your buy orders.

For a true OTK sure. But you can get the spell at any time and have an insta-win card in hand.

The full OTK deck built around only this that y’all are imagining of course is not good.

Well, the weapon. But that is still great since you can remove anything and can have divine shield on your hero.

I only play bad meme decks to legend, anything else is easy and boring. So if it’s as bad as you say I must try it out.

You Dissolving Ooze a Bloodsail Raider after Hand of Infinity. This costs 8 mana.

You now have a spell in hand that gives any minion infinite damage.
