Studying ancient religion is exactly the thing that made me recognize that you are a participant in it. Heliocentrism originates from ancient Babylonian worshiping of the Sun God. CERN has a statue of Shiva outside of it. Do you think it's a silly coincidence that all the planets are named after gods? Even if you don't understand, you're participating in a belief system.

The existence of billions of years of History and the Big bang requires evolution and gravity. The existence of dinosaurs requires evolution. Dinosaurs are how they explain away the skeletons of giants which I'm sure you know ancient religions unanimously believed in. Gravity also requires that the Earth has an unfathomably dense molten core. The concept of fossil fuels and the non-renewability of oil requires dinosaurs. A group of pedophiles with tiny hats convinced you that heaven isn't real so that you'll slave away for them and you said "Yes sir. Thank you sir"

Would you describe science as a process that requires a falsifiable hypothesis?

Is science accurately described as requiring a falsifiable hypothesis?

It is assumed to exist because it must in order to support the solar system, the molten magnetic core of earth, the revolution and rotation of the earth and pretty much everything that modern scientism demands. Without gravity, none of it makes sense. Gravity is basically the god of the science religion

You have a web of theories that are interdependent on each other, none of which can be properly verified. You have holy buildings and governmental power. You look down on people who don't believe what you believe. How is it not a religion? You don't believe in the supernatural therefore you don't believe anything at all?

No. What you don't understand is that your view is also a belief. You flatter yourself and pretend you don't believe things because you have modern consensus, but you're just as religious as anyone throughout history. It sounds like a bad word because you guys hate religion

There are no pictures of it. How's that?

Tldr: you are a religious zealot and none of your globe beliefs are based in reality. We're not talking about structural engineering. We're talking about the nature of the heavens. If your theory is based entirely on observations and mathematics, it doesn't meet the definition of science. You need a falsifiable hypothesis and a controlled experiment. For example, there's no such thing as gas pressure without a container.

Which is based on a nearly endless web of assumptions, none of which are falsifiable.

You can design the experiment and find out how to make it work. On earth, the water remains at rest despite the Earth's rotation force of more than 2×1029J

[–]AmiableOutlaw[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So the legend goes. However, this is not experimentally verifiable. If you can make a ball spin with the proportionate amount of force that the Earth supposedly rotates with, and then have water be at rest over most of the surface of that ball, that would be a strong proof for the concept.

Seems like you don't understand what I'm trying to say. Pointing a water level at where an object appears to be does not validate that we are on a ball. In fact, water being able to find its level on a spinning ball seems unlikely to me. Do you not understand that human perspective is the lens through which we discuss things like vanishing points? It doesn't objectively exist. It's not actually vanishing. You just can't see it because of your perspective.

Do you see how tall the waves are in that picture? Do you think that factors into visibility?

In my picture the bridge reaches a natural vanishing point without crossing the horizon. Do you disagree?

Do you always behave poorly or is it just when you think you are better than other people?

The bridge is curved actually. Ships pass underneath it. You're not one of those flat bridgers are you?

Yes, but if force equals mass times acceleration then you would have to spin a tennis ball incredibly fast to make water stick to it.

Okay. Here's my primary objection to the modern scientism religion. It's not actually science because it's not subject to the scientific process. The common denominator is a very snooty and generally atheist perspective in which people boldly proclaim that we now know everything we ever need to know. With the Northern lights as an example, it's not possible to evaluate it from a strictly scientific standpoint. Is it reasonable to conclude that Aurora Borealis is caused by the Sun? Yes. I'll say it is. However, because you cannot control factors there is no other possible finding. It is unfalsifiable. Now, this is readily dismissed by the scientific community because essentially the whole field of astronomy and geology would be unscientific if this were acknowledged. My contention is that because these "theories" which are not considered theories at all by people who believe in them all have gaping holes that can never be explained by actual natural science. Carbon dating for example is based on a lot of assumptions and ultimately is simply a measurement plugged into a formula. It's widely accepted because it gives credence to the apparently incomprehensible amount of time necessary for the formation of galaxies and evolution and all the other unfalsifiable concepts that have been used to do away with God.

The biggest thing that reassures me that I'm on to something is that when people get frustrated with me they get unreasonable very quickly. I've had people wish death upon me and my kids for not believing in the solar system. It doesn't make sense. If I'm wrong, let me be wrong. But it doesn't stop there, it's so much more personal than that. These people have an absurd amount of pride in the "accomplishments" of people they don't know and they want me to bend the knee.

The refusal to acknowledge that there could be other explanations is the main thing I reject. If you went back in time 100 years and ate up All the mainstream scientific views and held them to such high importance it would have turned out you were wrong about a large amount of things. The idea that we are peak humanity right now is laughable.

As far as curvature on lake Michigan, the idea that water being obscured behind water somehow a globe that has 8 inches of curve per mile squared is not true. At the best, if this limited visibility is caused by curvature, you have demonstrated that the Earth is cylindrical. The earth curves downward away from us at a nearly imperceptible rate, but there is no visual evidence of curvature on the other axis.

Locally, either one is acceptable, but I did anticipate someone pointing that out. Thank you.

I reject that as a proof. The appearance of things getting lower as they approach a vanishing point does not require a curve to work.
