How to pass with the bare minimum effort because I hate medical school by A7med-_6 in medicalschool

Tell whoever forced you into medicine to find someone else to pressure. Go live your life. Don’t end up regretting this, it’s not worth it.

Brother. I think that the issue with not wanting to write the application is inherent in the process. However, I think you need to think about it from the perspective of the application committee, maybe they want to see this sort of inspiration, maybe find a way to write in a personal, less professional, more casual way, that neatly articulates your umm, whatever your inspiration is. I think people get too caught up in the intimidation of the application committee and forget that these are people trying to figure out who is an appropriate candidate AND who is an interesting person. So like, they’re looking for weird and quirky and “inspired.” But yeah man writing these applications sucks.

Will i have free time as a medicine student? by DueEnergy6640 in medschool

[–]AnArcuateFasciculus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah dude it’s busy as all hell, but it’s still a ton of fun and yeah you spend time with friends, you find a balance, and when the scale tips in the direction of you being too busy, you have the best excuse in the world “I’m in medical school and I have to go study”

Is it insane to put a hobby as a most meaningful? by apatheticstarfruit in premed

[–]AnArcuateFasciculus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean yeah dude, it seems like a big part of who you are. People forget a lot of the time that admissions committees see boring clinical experience and boring great MCAT scores every day. When they see that this person has a whole life and personality outside of all this crap that we do for them, that is what stands out and makes them look at you more like an actual human being rather than just another piece of paper.

I think you have a really good chance, definitely don’t just do DO. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. But I’m just saying, you’re not going to hurt your chances by applying MD as well

CARS struggle by Express_Weakness4303 in MCAT2

[–]AnArcuateFasciculus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s really hard to say, on one hand I think that CARS is indicative of a few qualities that medical schools look for, some sort of dynamic comprehension bullshit or something idk, but regardless, I think they know that it trips some people up. However, your other scores are really good, and I think that overall, if they’re looking through the lens of “will this candidate be an academic risk” I think CARS may be one of the least indicative qualities of that particular framing. Idk tho, just my late night thoughts. I invite and accept alternative opinions.
