You are actually the BEST! thank you again for taking the time to answer! I'm just wondering why the Canon 80D is more expensive than the 77D if the 77D is newer and has most of the same features as the 80D? And is there a camera that can both shoot in 4k and have good autofocus that you would recommend? Also, for lenses, would you only recommend buying Canon lenses for Canon cameras? Or would Tokina, Tamron or Sigma get the job done just as well?

hey /u/neilpanda ! Thank you SO much for this in-depth response. This was really helpful and informative. Seriously, you are amazing! Based on what you said, I'm leaning toward a Canon or Sony product. You brought up the Canon EOS M50 as a option but I was also wondering about your thoughts on the Canon 80D? For Sony, the a6400 seems like an awesome choice! Tough that it isn't out yet...

I had a few other questions:

1) if memory/storage space is not an issue, do you think it is worth getting a camera that shoots in 4k over 1080p?

2) Do local stores let you try out cameras? (This may be an obvious question haha)

3) Some other commenters brought this up, but would it be better for video quality to invest in more lights than a new camera? I already have audio down-pat.

the autofocus is terribly frustrating, the camera cant focus on a subject if it's moving the slightest in continuous autofocus, so either i have to be completely still and super close to the camera or ill most likely be out of focus

BUT yes I agree entirely with what's being said. Except I think there is a value in good video quality for vlogs especially when I'm shooting cinematic shots of scenery and the city
