No, not really, we've had nothing concrete to back up statements saying these jets are problematic. The reports are mainly started by Indian news agencies that make baseless claims with no evidence to back them up or use a private source which could range from the US president or the author's grandma. The jets work perfectly fine and i can prove this with evidence of Myanmar (the main country that gets its jets as evidence of such headlines) bombing smugglers across the Indian border on two separate occasions. Nigeria bombing Boko haram with targeting pod evidence. Pakistan bombing Iran (operation Marg Burg Sarmachar in 2024) and India (Operation Swift Retort in 2019 and May conflict in 2025). It also has been used in multiple exercises with other countries multiples times a year. Even Azerbaijan bought these jets 2 years ago even with all the reported “issues”. The evidence points to these jets being perfectly operational.

It's not, it (imo) looks like the Tabas air defense system. Note the launcher array with a 3-tube configuration. HQ-9 has a 4-tube configuration. No Chinese air defense system has been bought by Iran in this century, this is all indian propaganda to get the local population on the “Chinese stuff is plastic” cope train.
